Tea Act of 1773
- On May 10, 1773 ,British Parliament passes a bill to save the West India Company from being bankruptcy by greatly lowering the tea tax it paid to the British Company.
- The colonist never excepted the constitutionality of the duty.
- The Tea Act was on December 16 , 1773 , in which colonist boarded the East India Company ships and dumped their loads of tea overboard.
Why did the Tea Act anger the colonists?
It angered the colonists because since they started buying their tea from the dutch east India company (fear of loosing their biggest profit), England set the price of tea very low but put an extra high tax on the tea.
