Miss Amy and Miss Courtney's Class!
This Week
We spent a lot of the week talking about families with a bit of Groundhog's Day. The kids took turns during choice time drawing their family on sentence strips. We hung these in the classroom at eye level and the kids have been discussing all week! It has been so fun hearing the conversations that it has sparked.
We learned about the letter H and found words that started with the letter. The kids also did a whole group sort with letter H and letter L. We noticed Johnny is our only friend with the letter H in our class!
All week we worked on preparing our Wawa center. The kids helped think of things we may need. A coffee machine, a soda machine, a milkshake machine, plastic bags, a sandwich station, touch screen order machine, paper to roll up the hoagies. We worked together to make tomatoes out of red circles, rolls out of toilet paper rolls, lettuce out of green tissue paper, lunch meat out of felt. We also worked together to make labels for the bowls by searching online for pictures and listening to for the first letter sound to help start the label. The kids were so excited about this, we are so excited to see it in full swing next week!
Tuesday we celebrated Ian's 5th birthday! He was able to pick a book for us all to read and he chose I Love You Stinky Face. The kids loved this story!
Wednesday was a fun day! We celebrated Declan's 4th birthday and enjoyed having his Mama as our mystery reader! We also went to Mrs. Strohl's class and we had a chance to play in her centers for the first time! It was so fun!
Thursday we learned about the groundhog and how he looks for his shadow. We went outside and found our own shadows and our friends' shadows. We were having so much fun stepping on each other's shadows as well! The playground was chilly, but we braved the cold for some much needed outside time!
Friday we made a cool craft with hearts to make a kitten! Miss Courtney and Miss Jean made an awesome obstacle course too! We had art with Mrs. Nice and had time to play in centers.
Overall it was a great week!
