SLCS District Update
April 6th, 2023
Superintendent's Update
Good evening SLCS Families and Staff Members,
This morning I had the pleasure of listening to Jason Colthorp from WDIV Channel 4 read to 2nd graders at Salem Elementary. Jason was at Salem to recognize the hard work put forth by the students during March is Reading Month. Great job Coyotes!
Along those same lines of hard work, next week begins the annual testing season for most of our students. Please encourage your student(s) to continue to do their best. We have great students and they should take pride in demonstrating the learning they have achieved this year!
SLCS Achievement!
Steven Archibald
Superintendent

NetSmartz Internet Safety Presentation for Parents, Guardians, and Communities
This presentation, provided by a U.S. Secret Service Agent, is part of the Childhood Smart Program. This program was created in partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), to help educate about computer and personal safety. The child safety experts at NCMEC create educational resources and the Secret Service helps to share these resources with schools and communities across the nation. One of those resources is the NetSmartz Internet Safety Presentation for Parents, Guardians, and Communities.
The NetSmartz Internet Safety Presentation for Parents, Guardians and Communities, addresses issues students may encounter online; namely, inappropriate content, online privacy, sexting, online enticement, and cyberbullying. The presentation is designed for adult members of the community and contains some potentially sensitive or emotional content, which is not appropriate for younger children. Additional information about the NetSmartz presentation series can be found on the NCMEC website: https://www.missingkids.org.

Healthy Kids Day
Repeat-Moving this summer? Do you have a new kindergarten student?
When our staff returns from spring break, we will begin to finalize staffing and schedules for the 2023-24 school year based on enrollments, and at the secondary level, based on course selections made by students. Please make sure your secondary student has submitted his or her course selections, you have informed us if you are moving, and your incoming kindergarten student's enrollment is complete. If you have friends or neighbors with incoming kindergarten students, please remind them to complete the enrollment paperwork. These tasks help us to proactively staff our schools for the year. We appreciate your assistance!
