Alan Turing
Alan Turing code cracker and inventor of modern computer
Alan Turing was born on the 23rd of June 1912 and lived in India till 1926; then came back to England and studied mathematics at Cambridge. It was at Cambridge that he and his teachers discovered that he solve very difficult maths equations. When the war started Turing a full time job bletchley park and cracked the enigma machine which was thought to be unbreakable it was predicted that if Turing hadn't cracked the code the war would of gone on for an extra two years after the war Turing turned his thoughts to the development of a machine that would logically process information. He worked first for the National Physical Laboratory (1945-1948). Turing’s design to make a digital computer were dismissed and the lab lost out on being the first to design a digital computer. In 1952, Turing was arrested and tried for homosexuality, then a criminal offence. To avoid prison, he accepted injections of oestrogen for a year, which were intended to neutralise his libido. in this era it was illegal to be gay. sadly due to the way that Alan Turing was treated he committed suicide on the 7th of June 1954.We can only see a short distance ahead but we can see plenty there that needs to be done Alan Turing.
