Four More Days!?
Hard to Believe We've Come to the End of the Nine Weeks
Little to Do, Lots of Time to Do It
As we quickly move towards the end of the nine weeks there are several big items that I want to put out in list form before we move any further:
Monday: No tests or quizzes
Tuesday: Mrs. Fiddner's Math takes quarterly test
Biography Projects Begin Presenting
Wednesday: All other math classes take quarterly test
Electricity Test (This is a change from Tuesday!)
Biography projects continue
Thursday: All math classes take a preassessment (No studying)
Word Study due/quiz
TFK Quiz
Biography Projects Finish
I moved the Electricity test back a day so we can have additional review in class. I realize that puts two tests on a single day for most students, but I am confident they would like additional time to study for it.
The preassessment in math is to see what the students already know about multiplication and division and how confident they are in these skills. Please do not review anything with your child before the event. Based on the preassessment and their performance in math during the first nine weeks, we may look to move students into different math classes. Your child's math teacher will let you know if this is going to happen.
Biography Projects and Reports
The second component is a 5-minute presentation they are going to give to their classmates this week. The students can make a poster, a slideshow, dress up as their character, or any visual style they would like to do. This is to be prepared mostly at home. If the students have finished all of their other work, they can work on it in class. The students also need to have one item that they show which represents their person. This does not need to be authentic, but just an object that represents the person. They need to explain why they chose their person, what contributions they made to society, and what would have changed if their person did not do what they did in their life.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
