Interest Survey for Virtual School or In Person School - SCHOOL YEAR 21 - 22

As you know, MCPS recently sent an Interest Survey to help identify how many students would choose to be fully enrolled in a regular, traditional school setting in the 21-22 school year or who would prefer being enrolled in the newly emerging Virtual Learning Academy either as a full-time or part-time student.

Please respond to the survey to help MCPS determine next best steps in its consideration of starting a Virtual Learning Academy. Families can learn more and complete the interest survey here:

NEW OPTIONS for Schedules: Abbreviated Schedules Available- Credit/No Credit Available

In response to feedback to MCPS about virtual learning adjustments have been made to improve the student/teacher experience in virtual learning, promote student well-being, and provide flexible options for student schedules.

Schedule adjustments are now available for the second semester to:

  • Abbreviated Schedule: Request an abbreviated schedule to lighten course load and take a course over the summer or in future semesters instead.
  • Credit/No Credit: Take up to two courses Credit/No Credit (also known as Pass/Fail) (instead of a letter grade, in courses not specifically required for graduation. Students/parents/guardians will have until the beginning of the fourth marking period to make the decision about Credit/No Credit or withdraw from a course, without notation on the transcript, extended from the 25th day of the semester).
  • 1st Semester Credit/No Credit: Students/parents/guardians will be permitted to retroactively apply the Credit/No Credit option to courses taken during the first semester of the 2020-21 school year. (While systems and processes are in development, students/parents are being advised to wait to make any requests until at least February 16, 2021 after report cards are received.)
