5 Themes of Geography

The Absolute Location for Austin is 30.2500° N, 97.7500° W. Relative Location would be Northeast of Dallas and Southwest of San Antonio. It is in central Texas and it is the Capital.

Austin is in a southern state but we are defiantly not cowgirls and cowboys. Most people say y'all, but for the most part we don't talk like stereotypical "Texans". Downtown Austin has tall buildings, but it's nothing like New York. It is the Live Music Capital of the World.

Lake Austin and Lake Travis both share Austin, lake wise, and during the summer the temperature gets to be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It is hilly but also flat. There are many different kinds of religion in Austin such as people being Mormon, Jewish, Muslim etc. but the main one is Christianity.

People move throughout Austin in many different ways. Lots of people ride busses, and the metro is becoming even more popular. People downtown ride bikes and some rollerblade, but most people get around in cars. There are highways and roads everywhere making this the easiest way to get to and from anywhere you want to go.

Human Envirnment Interaction

Austinites have put dams on lakes, and everybody has to have air-conditioning because without it we would all melt. There are lots of highways for all the cars, which isn't good for the environment, but we do cut back on things like watering our grass. Austin is in a drought so we try to conserve as much water as possible.
