A Look Back and a Look Ahead
Two of three Parent Panels were held (one at HBMS and one at RBMS) to help district parents with the transition to middle school. Most of them were very well attended, and parents had a lot of great questions; A few 5K committee members and I presented a check to NAMI for $8,210 dollars! EXCELLENT job, Vikings! It was just a beautiful day, and we are ready to start planning for next year's event! If you would like to help, please let me know; we welcomed in new members and said goodbye to the old at the NJHS Induction Ceremony last Tuesday night; enjoyed a great night of music as the Symphonic Band played with the Beginner Bands from West and GR on Wednesday; and witnessed this year's drama production - Crumpled Classics - this weekend. #EXTRAORDINARY work done by the cast and crew, and a #PHENOMENAL job by our directors, Mara and Catherine!
As for this week, we will continue our Chromebook trainings tomorrow for 7th and 8th grades, send our Tracksters off to the Conference Meet at Woodstock N. High School, have a whole slew of teams going on various field and reward trips throughout the week (including Portillo's, Nunda Township, Lincoln Park Zoo, and Veteran Acres - please check the Building Calendar for exact dates and times). In addition, we look forward to a PBIS-themed Early Release Day on Wednesday, our final Rising Star meeting of the year on Thursday, and an always-exciting 8th Grade Dance on Friday night! Tickets will be sold to 8th graders during lunch all week this week. Also on Friday, we go back to the drawing board in our continued search for a Director of ELA at the district level. I will be out of the building on Friday morning for this important interview session, along with Melinda and Mal, and a host of others who are on the interview panel.
Meet up this Saturday, May 21st, 8:00am at Starbucks in Downtown Lake Geneva, where many of your Viking family and friends will walk to Fontana which is half way around the lake! The group will proceed onward to Pier 290 for a break in Williams Bay, and then continue around the west side of the Lake back to Lake Geneva. They will finish off the day with Pizza at the Oak fire Grill. Sounds like a great Saturday!
