Government in lord of the flies

Jack's Tribe:

The type of government that was represented in Jack's tribe is dictatorship. This means that Jack is always the one that has the power; no one really has power unless jack gives it to them.

- "Before the party had started a great log had been dragged into the center of the lawn and Jack, painted and garlanded, sat there like an idol. There we're piles of meat on green leaves near him, and fruit, and coconut shells full of drink." (Chapter 9, Pg.149)

- "Conch! Conch! We don't need the conch anymore. We know who ought to to say things. What good did Simon do speaking, or Bill, or Walter? Its time some people knew they've got to keep quiet and leave deciding things to the rest of us." (Chapter 6, Pg. 102)

- "You could have had fire whenever you wanted. But you didn't. You came sneaking up like a thief and stole Piggy's glasses!" (Chapter 11, Pg. 176)

Ralph's Tribe:

I feel Ralph's tribe was a democracy because everyone got a say in decision making. Everyone got a say in government because the conch allowed everyone to have a voice and express their own opinions.

-"We can use this to call the others. Heave a meeting. They'll come when they hear us." (Chapter 1, Page 16) (First time Ralph finds the conch and calls everyone with it)

- "Meetings. Don't we love meetings? Everyday. Twice a day. We talk" He got on one elbow. "I bet if I blew the conch this minute, they'd come running." (Chapter 3, Page 51)

My own government

I believe having a Government that is a Democracy is the best choice because it allows for everyone to have freedom and everyone's voice to be heard in it. This type of government can really preserve freedom, but only if you have a good balance between order and freedom.

1. A leader will be chosen at the start of every new year. Will be selected by a vote that is done on November 1st of each year. You can be leader twice but not twice in a row. You are only allowed to become leader up to three times.

2. Upon coming leader, you must vote for everything before you pass a new law. 75% of the people must be in favor of the new law for it to pass and become a law.

3. People who commit crimes will be punished by jail time, depending on what their crime was. The judicial system will consist of random people who hear both sides of the story and decide the criminal's fate.

4. At least 10 years of education is required (Up to age 15). This will make a better work force. If you wish to get a job that needs more education, then you can continue going to school.

5. There won't be rich, poor, and middle classes. If you are richer, you will pay more taxes, if you have less money, you wont have to pay as much. This is to create equality for everyone.

6. Leaders will not be allowed to abuse their power such as: Accuse someone of committing a crime and immediately sending them to punishment, get someone out of punishment, etc.

7. A leader can automatically pass a law if it is something urgent with fixing the economy, fixing a environmental or a health problem.

8. Leaders cannot go to war with another civilization unless we are attacked first or had war declared on us. If we are declaring war, then there will be a vote on it, 65% of the people must say yes to it in order to go to war.

9. The people have the freedom of speech, anyone can openly speak about anything in a public area or facility. If the speaker is speaking inappropriate things, they will be punished. They are allowed to speak against the government and voice their own opinions on anything.

10. religion is also a given freedom where anyone is allowed to believe in what they believe in, no mater how different it sounds from what the majority of the population believes in.

I could enforce these laws by having officials and maybe a force such as police officers to deal with these problems and to make sure everyone follows these laws.

Real Historical Example (Country affected by in-fighting)

A good historical example of infighting would be the recent problems in the middle east with ISIS. This has been affecting their population greatly in the Islamic state, as they are

taking over a lot of land and killing a lot of civilians. (Morgan Winsor)

This is not only affecting their government, but it is affecting ours. The ISIS are even killing their own members if they try to feel from serving the ISIS group. (Al Arabiya News).

Origins of ISIS – Special Coverage

Problem with ISIS

ISIS side of the story is that they want to be able to form a new nation that follows and it s governed by Islamic rules, standards, and regulations. They think anyone who does not support their religion and disagrees with it, is a big threat to them. (Rahul Baxi) Their approach to this right now is to try to take over as much land as they can, capturing and killing innocent citizens, etc.

Our side to it (anti-terrorist side) is that they are taking extreme actions in order to form this new nation and we are trying to fight against them to stop ISIS from trying to take over the middle east.

The anti-terrorist over in the middle east really don't have much to stop the ISIS, as the ISIS are gaining more and more everyday. The U.S. has a lot to offer but we have not gone to war yet with ISIS. If the anti-terrorists over in the middle east have us on our side, then they will have a lot of support on their side.

In my own opinion, I believe 2 outcomes could happen. If the anti-terrorists get us in a war to help them stop ISIS, then I think they can over come the ISIS. If not, then I think the ISIS will take over the middle east and other parts of the world if we don't act fast and do something about it.
