Last Week Recap
We had a normal week of ELA. This week focused on cultural differences. We read stories focusing on stories from an immigrant's perspective. We had some excellent discussions about the challenges immigrants face and thought about an immigrant's perspective.
In Social Studies, 5th graders have continued working on geography and identifying various landforms in the United States. In writing and grammar, we worked on correct formatting of dialogue. We did really well with this and I expect all students to continue to show their mastery of this skill.
We also worked on our final drafts of poems we wrote last week, which we will display in the classroom. They will go home after break. Another fun thing we worked on was a letter filled with advice to Miss Korth, who is getting married next week!
6th Grade -
We had a normal week of ELA. This week focused on cultural differences. We read stories focusing on stories from an immigrant's perspective. We had some excellent discussions about the challenges immigrants face and thought about an immigrant's perspective.
In Social Studies, we have continued looking into Population of countries, moving onto working on identifying reasons for migration. In writing and grammar, we worked on correct formatting of dialogue. I issued a challenge to the kids to correct a block of text without any errors. Their rewards, which they earned, was to write a skit using proper dialogue. Each student has an act and they are very excited about this assignment.
