7th Grade Newsletter February 2019
Happy Valentine's Day!
A Few Highlights from January.....
In addition to our Career Fair, 7th grade students had the opportunity to participate in the "Junior Achievement"" field trip in connection with the social studies content area curriculum. For those that weren't able to attend due to the inclement weather day, the trip has been re-scheduled and information will be communicated to parents.
Finally, our PBIS "Husky Bowl" day event took place on Friday, February 1st, 2019 and those students who earned enough PBIS points were able to enjoy a variety of fun activities during lunch and homeroom class time. Please continue to encourage your child to follow through with the 3 B's to earn points each class period as we will continue to host a variety of "reward day" events throughout the course of the school year!

Students are currently working on a Linear Functions Unit and are learning to find slope from a graph, a set of points or using a table. They will be writing and graphing linear equations in slope-intercept form and graphing proportional relationships.
Ms. Howell/Ms. King:
Math 7 students will be starting our Probability unit, and exploring the concepts such as likelihood, theoretical versus experimental probability, and the probability of multiple events occurring in sequence. Students will explore all of these concepts in terms of both theoretical and real-world scenarios.
WORLD LANGUAGE
Spanish 1B is on the last chapter of Lección 5 on direct object pronouns. Later in February we will begin Lección 6 on clothes and shopping. International Night is February 7th and we are in busy with preparations for our night of fun! Everyone is encouraged to bring a traditional food item to share. We look forward to seeing you there!
Ms. Giannace:
Spanish 1a has a Test over Leccion 2 on February 1. We will then move to Leccion 3, which includes vocabulary of family and grammar structures including adjectives and conjugations of many verbs. Don’t forget to attend International Night on February 7th from 5:30 to 7:00. Tons of culture, food and fun!
Ms. Proctor:
French 1B has been studying places vocabulary and explaining how to get from one place to another. We’ve also compared and contrasted the pastimes of young French and American students. We are presently studying the future tense using the verb “aller,” which means “to go.” Preparations for International Night are underway, as well. À bientôt!
Ms. Davy:
German students are working on the second half of their career unit. They are learning so much new vocabulary! They are also gearing up for International Night on February 7, from 5:30-7:00 pm at Crabapple. Students should continue to study vocabulary around 20 minutes per day in order to be successful in the class.
