Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
School Fete
The success of our school fete in a 40 degree heat-wave on Saturday afternoon was a magnificent team effort. Organised by our Parents & Friends Committee and so ably led by Mrs Pina Pettinicchio, the day was lots of fun for many. The generosity of our community is huge and to think that there were over 250 parents who volunteered in some capacity to make the day such a success is fabulous. Our children are so very lucky to be part of a community that cares so much for them and provides them with the best possible opportunities and learning environments. It looks like Stage 2 of the Nature Playground around the school oval is now just that bit closer. Watch this space.
Annual Community Meeting
Thank you to all our staff and parents who attended the P&F and School Board ACM last night. It is always a pleasure to share the many achievements of our school, as well as highlighting our plans for 2020. We are certainly blessed to be part of such an engaged and strong school community.
I take this opportunity of thanking our Board Chairperson, Mr Brendan Long for his Board Report and Mr Dion Panossian for the Board Treasurer’s Report. Always mindful of the economic challenges facing families, the School Board has again endeavoured to keep fee increases to a minimum, setting fees lower than the recommended increase from CEWA. A 5% increase in school fees for the 2020 school year was advised in the Board Treasurer’s Report as presented by Mr Dion Panossian. Please note that school fees will go home in the third week of school next year.
I thank those parents who put forward nominations for Board positions and especially thank our outgoing Chairperson, Mr Brendan Long for his commitment to our school. Brendan has been exceptional in the contributions he has made during his two terms on the Board and five years as Chairperson.
We wish you all the best for the future Brendan - your wise counsel and strong leadership will be missed.

Parents and Friends
I thank Mrs Michelle Shier for presenting the P&F Treasurer’s Report and Mrs Pina Pettinicchio for the P&F President’s Report. Again, the P & F Executive and wider parent network have been tireless in their commitment to the school and it is really heartening to see their dedication to not only financial support, but more importantly in strengthening our community. Thank you!
Year 5 Camp
We wish our Year 5 students and their teachers well on their camp adventures. This morning, a very excited group headed off to their first school camp at Point Walter. We trust their time together will be filled with fun, adventure, friendship and lots of new learnings, and no doubt parents will look forward to hearing all about it when they return on Friday. I look forward to catching up with both students and staff tomorrow, so let’s hope the sun is shining!
World Kindness Day
Students, parents and visitors were greeted by artwork and messages of kindness in celebration of World Kindness Day. Thank you to Mrs Hopkins and our Year 4 students for the reminder that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
Kind regards and best wishes for a wonderful week ahead.

Also, if you are unable to get into the drive through for Camberwarra Drive at pick up, could we please ask parents to go around the block instead of blocking the entrance? It is an offence to block the roads for other road users and complaints have been made by local residents.

Student Achievement
Congratulations to Jaydn Buckley 5W achieving a bronze medal in the U12 State Surf Lifesaving Endurance Championship 2km beach race. This follows the gold, silver and bronze medals she got in the U10 State Surf Lifesaving Championships earlier this year.
Environmental and Sustainability Committee
Thank you to everyone who visited and volunteered at the Fete Eco Hub stall. The kids enjoyed a range of activities, including planting out a seedling to take home, crafting their own badge, loose parts play, and decorating the cotton tee pee with paint filled spray bottles. The low-waste lunch box ideas and insect hotel generated some great conversations. Many enjoyed the huge tub of free lemons and great selection of free books. The stall had a beautiful selection of plants to choose from, we hope they all thrive in their new homes!
P and F News
Thank you to the whole WCPS School community for their continued support, especially with the Fete on Saturday and the free BBQ lunch for students yesterday. Despite the hot weather, $11,762 was raised from the fete, taking our net income total for 2019 to $48,983. The fete took months of planning but the success on the day is always dependent on community support and volunteers. This year we had over 280 parents volunteer for the Fete, making it one of the most successful events in terms of funds raised and community spirit.
Our ACM was held last night, and a summary will be provided in the P&F Newsletter next week.
