When I was pregnant with my first child, I became close with nine other women who were pregnant or had recently given to birth to their first child. Fastforward 18 years and 21 children later, this weekend we celebrated three of the children in our group as they prepare to graduate in the next couple weeks. I am in awe of how quickly time passes. We've moved on from conversations about how to get your baby to sleep through the night to how to pay for college.
Speaking of time passing quickly, we only have 14 days of school left! Graduation is around the corner and I am looking for 1-2 parents (not parents of seniors:)) who would be willing to help us with coordinating flowers, food, and decorations for our June 3rd MLC Graduation Ceremony. Email me if you would be willing to help with this.
We also have 8th-grade promotion coming up on June 7th. Scott McClain is collecting photos for a slide show for the 8th-graders. Here's a message from Scott: Please send them to jsmcclain45@gmail.com. It would be great to have at least 3 (a baby pic, a MLC middle school pic and a current pic). Please let us know where your student will be studying next year.
It is such a busy time of year at MLC. Our 1st/2nd graders wrapped up their forest study last week with their last visit to Forest Park, our kinders had their insects on display in the hallways, 3rd-graders are getting ready for their bridge walk next week, our 4x6 visited PNCA, and our 7x8 returned safely from Ashland, and our 9x12 is invited to BRUNCH CRUNCH tomorrow 5/20 9:00-12:00 to work on their grades while eating brunch at MLC. And we have Egg Drop for Kx12 on Monday (see below for details)!
I look forward to watching all of our MLC students finish the year strong as they prepare to take the next step in their educational journey.

MLC Book Fair Wrap Up
A big shake of the Paw to the MLC Community for another successful Book Fair. Through the hard work of the Volunteers and YOU, we were able to empty Kiva's basket and put the books on the shelves. We were also able to raise $847.50 [USD] for Library purchases in addition to adding Scholastic Dollars to our existing balance for a total of $1676.07 [SD's]. The Book Fairs are the only fundraisers held for the MLC Library and one of only two sources of funding - the other being an annual gift from the PTSA.
It has been an absolute pleasure to share my passion for books with Kiva over the last four years and I wish her the best on next year's adventure.
You can be part of the Book Fair Adventure too. I am always looking for others to join the planning team and am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with my eventual successors. The 2018-2019 school year will be my last as an MLC Parent.
