HRE Helps Houston


Don't forget- HRE and our Fishers community are working to fill a semi-truck with supplies to help an elementary school affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston, TX! Braeburn Elementary School was flooded to the point that it needs to be rebuilt. In the meantime, the students and staff of Braeburn have been relocated to a former high school. They are in desperate need of supplies. The school's population is 99% Free and Reduced, and 80% ENL. Many of the students' homes were also impacted by the hurricane.

Our big goal is to go beyond this initial truck donation and "adopt" this school in need. We are hoping to match up classrooms, create pen pals, Skype, and much more!


We will continue collecting items tonight from 5pm - 8pm and Saturday from 8am - 12pm at Hoosier Road Elementary.

What's Cooking?

Breakfast will be available Monday - Friday at 8:40am for students who wish to purchase it. Hot and cold selections will be available. Student “lunch” accounts will be charged. For complete breakfast and lunch menus, please click here.

Monday: Chicken Tenders with Dinner Roll and Green Beans

Tuesday: Cheese Omelet with Bacon and Bagel

Wednesday: Breaded Chicken Sandwich with Baked Beans

Thursday: Ravioli with Meat Sauce and Garlic Toast

Friday: Potato Crunch Fish Bites with Mac & Cheese and Broccoli


Please remember to check your student’s lunch account and make sure to replenish it if necessary. All lunch accounts with a negative balance of $20 or more will be sent to collections per HSE District policy. The cost per student breakfast is $1.25 and per student lunch is $2.60. When sending in lunch money please be sure to include the child’s first and last name, teacher name and student ID on the payment envelope.


Fresh fruit , veggies and milk are always offered with lunch.


PBJ, Turkey Sandwich, Chef Salad or Pizza Pack (Gogurt brand yogurt, cheese, pita bread & marinara) will be offered daily as an alternative lunch choice.


No pork is served; we use turkey-based products.

Cafe News for 3rd & 4th Graders

Our 3rd and 4th grade students have the opportunity to purchase snacks in the cafeteria lunch line. If you do not want your child purchasing snacks, please let us know so that we can put an alert on your child's account for "NO SNACKS". To add the alert, please email the HRE Cafeteria Manager Cathy Hart at chart@hse.k12.in.us or call her at 915-4240 ext. 1888.

Weekly G.R.I.P. Winners

All HRE students know about G.R.I.P. - an acronym which stands for Gratitude Respect Integrity Purpose. Students may earn "GRIP SLIPS" by demonstrating any one of these character traits. Each week, teachers draw one name from their classroom Grip Slips and that student is the Grip Slip winner for the week from that classroom. Those names are then entered into a weekly drawing per grade level; one name is drawn per grade level and those students come to the office to choose a small prize. We are pleased to announce our Grip Slip winners for the week:


Kindergarten: Joshua Lim from Mrs. Sergi's class demonstrated Purpose.


1st Grade: Ethan Stein from Mrs. Simmond's class demonstrated Purpose.


2nd Grade: Dominic Castillo from Mrs. Palfi's class demonstrated Integrity.

Behavioral Health Services

Hamilton Southeastern Schools recently entered in to a partnership with Community Health Network to begin to provide behavioral health services to students during the school day. Hoosier Road was assigned a licensed mental health therapist who will be available to help support students and families throughout the week. If you have questions or are interested in pursuing this service please contact the school counselor, Kate Young, to learn more.

Body Safety with Chaucie's Place

Hoosier Road Elementary is partnering again this year with Chaucie’s Place, a child advocacy organization in Hamilton County, to bring Smart Steps™: A Body Safety Program for Children to our Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students. Smart Steps™ is a child sexual abuse prevention and education program that empowers your child to say “NO!” to unwanted touches from anyone who makes them feel uncomfortable.


Hoosier Road's Body Safety student program will be held on November 6th, 2017. If you have questions or concerns about this program, we invite you to attend a Chaucie’s Place Parent Night to learn more about the Smart Steps™program. Please attend the following parent informational meeting:


* Smart Steps Parent Night will be held at New Britton Elementary on Wednesday, October 4th from 6:00pm-7:00pm.


This meeting is open to all parents and/or guardians of Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students. Please be advised that Parent Night is not open to children.

Book Rental and iPad Fees

Your child's book and iPad rental fees have been posted to Skyward. Payments can be made via EFunds or by sending in a check made out to Hoosier Road Elementary. Be sure to put checks in a sealed envelope and include your student’s name, teacher’s name, and student ID number. Fees are due no later than September 29th. When viewing student fees in Skyward Family Access, there will be multiple fees displayed that may look similar. However, for grades 1 through 4 there will be one for textbook fees and one for consumable fees. Kindergarten students will have a textbook, consumable and material fee. Textbook and consumable fees may include digital resources or periodicals depending on the grade level. If your student is renting an iPad, a separate fee will be listed.

The Fun Begins Tonight!

Don't forget to join other HRE families at this year’s school carnival! The festivities will be this evening from 5:00PM to 8:00PM featuring carnival games, bounce houses, an online auction, caricaturist, photo booth and more. Wristbands will be available at the door for $18 (children 3 & under and adults are free). Food and Kona Ice will also be available for an additional cost.

Let the Bidding Begin!

As part of the HRE Carnival we will hold a Silent Auction. The teachers and staff at HRE have generously donated their time for wonderful experiences with our students. Please use the link below to browse the auction experiences. The auction opens Friday, September 15, 2017 at 3:00pm, and will remain open until Friday, September 22, 2017 at 8:30pm. Payments from all winners are due Monday September 25, 2017. All the proceeds from the auction will go towards continuing to provide innovative educational experiences at our school.
