Cougar Connect Community Edition

October 23 - November 3

Principal Arellano's Post

Greetings Cougar Families!

What an October!!! We have had several visitors in the building who are so impressed with our students! We truly have the BEST community!

Parent-teacher conferences are quickly approaching. Our goal is for 100% participation from families. We are eager to share student's progress with you. If you have not signed up for a conference, please do so.

Our Fall Showcase is two weeks out. We LOVE having our community as participants. We need community members to listen to presentations and ask our students questions about their learning. We hope that you can join us.

Get a peek inside our school day by following us on our Facebook page @kingelementarywsd3.

King celebrates their 50th birthday this year! Please be on the lookout for our many celebrations occurring throughout the year! We are focusing on "legacy" this year in celebration of our 50th and would love to have both present and past community members help us to celebrate. Be sure to read the Cougar Connect Community Edition in detail to see all the ways we are celebrating!

Please be sure to look at your REMIND messages for important communication from teachers and school staff. If you do not have a REMIND account, please be sure to sign up for one. If you need help, please call our front office for assistance. REMIND is our school and district's means of communication and the best way to stay in the loop!

We need your help keeping our students safe! Please be sure to adhere to the following:

  • Please encourage your students to use the crosswalks when crossing the street.
  • Please utilize our kiss-and-go for drop-offs and pickups when picking up students in vehicles.
  • If you are parking to drop off or pick up students, please avoid double parking, blocking driveways, bus lanes, and intersections.
  • Please adhere to the speed limit.
  • Please ensure all students are gathered and playing on the playground before and after school. Please do not allow your students to climb trees.

We thank you for your partnership in helping keep our students safe!

Habits of Success Focus: Empathy and Relationships

      ROARS Focus: Respect

Empathy and Relationships help our students in the following ways:

      • Helping students to understand the importance of demonstrating respect in our community.

      • Understanding the being part of being a community member is helping others

      • Knowing that ALL members have a place within our community

      • Advocating for others when they need help

      • Understanding the perspective of others

      • Building long-lasting positive relationships with adults and peers

      Diner Tabel Prompts:

      • What are the ways you demonstrate respect at school, at home, and within our community?
      • How can we support others who are having a difficult time at school or home?
      • How can you make new friends? Is it easy for you to make friends or difficult?
      • Why is it important to listen to others who have different perspectives or opinions than your own?
      • What makes people unique and special?
      • Why is it important to have a preferred adult at school? Who is your preferred adult?
      • How does our attitude impact our relationships?
      • How do you support others when they make a mistake?
      • What does respect look and sound like when engaging in discussions?
