AVID Spotlight

On Friday, January 08, 2016 AVID welcomed new guest speakers. Derek Huber and Tolson Jeffrey spoke with the TMS AVID students regarding their experiences in middle school, high school, college, and AVID. As former Trexler students and Onslow County Schools AVID alumni, these college students were able to make a connection on working hard and doing your best to enable you to reach your dreams of college success. Derek is a sophomore at Western Carolina studying construction management. Tolson is a freshman at University of Carolina Chapel Hill studying biomedical engineering.

Falcon Athletics

Falcon basketball kicks off the season next week with their first game at Southwest Middle on January 12th. Tip off is at 4:00 for girls and the boys game will follow.

Tech Tip of the Week

It is important that students are saving to their Office 365 Onedrive. Onedrive is cloud storage provided to the students so they can save all of their work to the cloud. By saving to the cloud students will dramatically reduce the possibility of lost work due to a damaged, repaired, or stolen 1:1 laptop. Students have been provided instruction on saving to Onedrive in class, but to help with the process students can refer to the video below. This video is also located on our school’s website under the “Latest News” section along with other Office 365 tutorial videos.

Trexler Middle School was recognized at the January Board Of Education meeting for achieving Model School status during the 2014-15 school year for our PBIS program. The school was also recognized in November at the Exceptional Children’s Conference in Greensboro at a special awards program for PBIS statewide. We are proud of our staff and students for doing a great job. Trexler continues to improve the PBIS program to encourage students to make good choices.
