A bi-monthly update and resource center for advisers
Advisor of the Month
DM Therrell High School
Meet Chelsea. She is energetic, focused and determined to make a difference for her students. Her commitment to education has brought her back to GCAC for her second year as an adviser, and earlier this month she was awarded for her outstanding service to her school and students. The high school awarded Chelsea and two other faculty members for their outstanding work in the classrooms. Just this year, Chelsea has helped over 50 junior and senior students apply for the SAT/ACT and as brought the average test score for seniors up by five percent already. Great work, Chelsea!

Tips for Success
- Remember to set and evaluate professional goals. "Goals become a road map for the journey to excellence"
- Advisors must take care of themselves. As an advisor, you have a lot of responsibility, a lot of work, and not nearly enough time. It's important to remember that you are human, that you can't do it all in one day and that you have support all around you. Take a lunch break off campus, go on a walk around the track during a planning period, plan a weekend getaway. Whatever it may be, make sure you are taking time for yourself. It's worth it.
