Jeremy Sopher
Thesis
The documentary Undefeated directed by Daniel Lindsay, the purpose was to show how a team can grow as a team with a good coach and a good philosophy.
Defining the Purpose
The director's purpose of this documentary was to entertain the audience. He used real game film in the documentary and used some of the sayings from coach Bill Courtney. Daniel also showed how the team had grown and bonded together over the length of the season and the many struggles they had.
Coach Bill Courtney
Coach Bill is the main coach that is followed throughout the documentary. He is the one that helps out the troubled students and helps put them on the right track.
Chavis Daniels
Chavis is one of the more troubled students on the team. At the beginning of the season he is released from youth penitentiary and has a really bad temper. During the season, he creates problems for the team and Coach Bill has to suspend him. Chavis then later steps up as a team player and puts the team before himself.
Montrail "Money' Brown
Money is one of the smaller linemen, but he gives it his all every time he does anything. He is one of the kids that has the good grades and Coach Bill looks to for leadership. Money later injures his ACL and cannot play for the rest of the season. Money is devastated because he then cannot help his team and play for his father, whom is dead. Because of his story getting leaked out to people, he gets his whole college tuition paid off, so he decides to go to Southern Mississippi with his teammate, O.C Brown and becomes a football manager.
Conclusion
While watching this documentary, I noticed that people that set their mind to do something can achieve it with hard work and dedication. The documentary also shows how bad some of the living conditions are in some places because it takes you into the homes of some of the of the players on the team.
