Tiger of the Month: Collaboration
Isaac is the definition of a team player! He consistently works well with others, get others involved and encourages his teammates. His team spirit is inspiring and contagious!
Kate exemplifies teamwork in and outside of the classroom. On student check-in surveys, Kate was overwhelmingly named by her peers as someone who they can count on to help them.Kate has a true gift to help and encourage others with kind, helpful, specific feedback.
Brayden displays teamwork daily! He gets along well with others and is always working. Brayden is very helpful with other students and cheers on other students. Brayden has a genuine commitment towards helping others. Brayden also communicates effectively with his peers and is always kind to his classmates. WAY TO GO BRAYDEN! Keep up the good work! I am so proud of you!
What We Are Learning
We are starting our new Wit & Wisdom Module, and the students
are excited! We will be guided by our focusing question for the
next 8 weeks: “How does a challenging setting or physical
environment change a person?” Through this real-world topic we
will identify, infer, and describe characteristics needed for
survival. We will study details, character changes, and make
connections to help us incorporate sequence and dialogue in to
informational essays. Our main texts are Hatchet and the SAS
Vocabulary: inference, character traits, sequence, dialogue
Vocabulary: product, multiples, factors, dividend, divisor, remainders, composite number, prime number, divisible, difference, sum, quotient.
- Multiplying and divide by multiples of 10's: 10,100, and 1,000.
- Multiplying multi-digit numbers (up to 4 digit numbers by single digit number)
- multiplying double digit by double digits.
- Solving multi-step word problems with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
- Reasoning with divisibilities , Factors, Composite number and prime numbers
- Solve division problems with and without remainders.
Draw and identify points, lines, rays, angles, parallel and perpendicular lines.
Measure and draw angles using a protractor
Solve problems with adjacent and missing angles
Identify symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry
Analyze and classify triangles based on sides and/or angles.
Science and Social Studies
Students are learning how to read weather maps and the differences between weather and climate.
Vocabulary: anemometer, barometer, rain gauge, thermometer, cold front, warm front, air pressure, weather, climate
Unit: Challenges of a New Nation
- analyze the challenges faced by the framers of the Constitution
- describe the meaning of the federal government
- explain the importance of freedoms granted by the First Amendment
- describe the structure of the government and the Bill of Rights
