Sandwich High School News
December 2020
Greetings, SHS Community.
As we begin December, there are a lot of changes to the Sandwich High School learning model. We have moved from a hybrid model (A/B Schedule) to a full remote model. This will last through Jan. 18, 2021, with students returning to hybrid learning on Jan. 19, 2021. Please be aware that students who choose to stay in the hybrid model (A/B schedule) are expected to return to in-person learning on Jan. 19, 2021. If you have decided that you do not want to return to in-person learning, you should ask to go full remote. A survey was sent out already but those who did not indicate they wanted to change to full remote should contact Mr. Sodaro ASAP. Full-remote learning is delivered through Edgenuity.
Sandwich High School will not be administering final exams worth 20% of a student's grade. Instead, finals will be weighted as a regular unit test for each class. Students enrolled in Edgenuity will not be taking a final exam.
Going forward through December it is important to know the remote learning plan that was sent out two weeks ago. This plan is our guiding document and will be followed by the staff at SHS. Please understand that every teacher will have a minimum of two days each week that a student can use to contact their teacher directly. These virtual office hours have been shared in the remote learning document. Each student is expected to check their google classrooms every day. Each google classroom has assignments, videos and activities listed.
Stay safe.
Mr. Sodaro

Scholarships, Scholarships, Scholarships:
Remember to check the Counselor Class of 2021 Information Google Classroom for scholarship information: https://classroom.google.com/u/0/c/MTA0OTMwODU3NjI5
Waubonsee Community College Foundation Scholarships:
The application is available on Waubonsee’s website at //waubonsee.edu/foundationscholarships. On the website, they also provide resources that students will find helpful as they complete the application, including a copy of the scholarship brochure, an application guide, responses to frequently asked questions and tips for responding to essay questions. Please encourage students to read these documents before starting their applications.
One important change to note this year is that students must complete the New Student
Information Form before starting their foundation scholarship application. Once they have been assigned a Waubonsee student ID number (x-number), they will be able to log in using the same email address used to complete the NSIF. The data provided on the NSIF will automatically populate in the scholarship application, saving the student from having to enter the information again.
