(New) Grades 9-11 Registration Begins February 2nd
On Tuesday, February 2nd, students in grades 9-11 will begin the registration process for the 2021-2022 school year. Over the past few weeks, teachers have been talking with students about course options in their content areas and have made recommendations about next courses in sequenced classes (i.e. Mathematics). Students will receive registration information and instructions in SPARK Advisory on Tuesday, February 2nd; they will then have two weeks to make their decisions and enter their course plan online. We ask students to give thoughtful consideration to their options and consult with their current teachers, counselor and parents/guardians. Each student will have a 1:1 registration check-in meeting with their SPARK Advisor to assist with the process. Course requests will be due in Infinite Campus by 5:00pm on Tuesday, February 16th. Textbook Collection and Distribution – Q3
Information was sent to students in Schoology regarding textbook collection and distribution of new learning materials for Q3. Parents are encouraged to assist students in returning all books which are no longer being used for learning. There will be a curbside drop box available at the WEST ENTRANCE until Friday, February 5th. New materials can be picked up during school hours in the Learning Commons. Nutrition Services Meal Kits
ALL secondary students are eligible for free seven-day meal kits to support their distance learning. To best meet the needs of our families, meal kits will be available for pick up near the middle or high schools’ entrance doors at these times:
· Monday 4:00pm- 5:30pm
· Tuesday 7:30am- 9:00am
· Wednesday 10:00am- 11:00am (Digital Academy Meals will continue)
· Thursday 7:30am- 9:00am
· Friday 10:00am- 11:00am
Look for the banner and sign for the distribution location. Families with children in multiple schools are encouraged to pick-up all seven-day meal kits at one school.
Initially, families will be asked to complete this Seven-Day Meal Kit Interest Survey. This will allow the Food and Nutrition Services department to prepare the number of meal kits needed. The survey only needs to be completed once.
The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture has authorized funding for schools to provide meals at no charge to children, 18 and younger, for the entire school year. All secondary families are encouraged to participate in this opportunity. Any child 18 and younger, or parent/guardian of a child is able pick up these seven-day meal kits. For contactless distribution, the seven-day meal kit boxes will be placed on a 6-foot table with a bag of milk on the side. Families will be able to take as many boxes as needed for their children. Food and Nutrition Staff will monitor and replenish the table as needed.

Grad ads are full-color, congratulatory messages to graduating seniors form their families. They include the student's name, a baby picture, and a short message. They are $45.
The deadline to purchase a grad ad is Monday, February 1st. If you'd like to purchase a grad ad, please complete the following:

Spring 2021 ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS Test Administration Update as of January 21, 2021
- After hearing from school leaders, organizations, and families, MDE has extended the ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS testing window to allow as much flexibility in administering the test as possible. The testing window is now Jan. 25–April 16.
- New information about ACCESS testing will be sent to families soon. Please disregard the previous testing information that you received in the mail.

ATHLETICS
(New) EVHS Varsity Boys Hockey Falls to Shakopee 1/23/21
The Eastview Boys hockey team lost another tightly contested battle 2-1 this past Saturday against Shakopee, the Lighting got out to a 1-0 lead on Tanner Kronbergs 1st varsity goal with an assist to Jordan Larkee. The Lightnings goaltender Corey Hendrickson added 17 saves. The Lightning will be back in action Thursday at home against rival Apple Valley at 7 PM.
(New) EVHS Varsity Boys Hockey Beats Apple Valley 1/28/21
The Eastview Boys hockey team notched its 2nd win of their 2021 season with 3-1 conference win over Apple Valley. The Lightning were led with Carter Jensen's 21 saves. The Lightning were led offensively by Sam Groebner, who scored his first 2 Varsity goals. Tanner Kronberg notched his second of the season with assists going to sophomores Charlie Ortman, and John Kisch. Jordan Larkee, Sam Reller and Gabe Tritschler each added an assist on the evening. The Lightning will be back in action on Saturday on the road against Prior Lake.
(New) EVHS Varsity Boys Hockey Comes Up Short at Burnsville- 1/21/21
The Eastview Boys hockey team lost a tightly contested battle 5-3 last night at Burnsville, the lighting fought back from a 3-0 deficit, but fell short in the end. Goal Scorers were John Kisch, Aydan Griffitts, and Sam Reller. The Lightnings goaltender Carter Jensen added 23 saves. The Lightning will be back in action Saturday at home against Shakopee at 2 PM.
(New) EVHS Boys Swim and Dive Team Triumphs Over Apple Valley
The Eastview Boys Swim and Dive Team dove into their second meet of the season against Apple Valley High School on Thursday, January 21. The varsity swimmers sent a tidal wave over the Eagles, winning with a score of 118 to 68. The junior varsity swimmers sent a wave of their own, winning with a score of 25 to 14.
Relay highlights surfaced during the first event of the night, with the varsity 200 Yard Medley Relay teams taking both 1st and 2nd places! 1st place was won by Kyle Kunisaki, Nicholas Phomsouvanh, Max Blodgett, and Hunter Dunne. 2nd place was taken by Ethan Klein, Nate Getman, Wyatt Olson, and Trevor Larkee. A 1st place relay victory was achieved a second time during the varsity 200 Yard Freestyle Relay by Nate Getman, Hunter Dunne, Wyatt Olson, and Alex Schmidt. 3rd place in this race also went to the Lightning, earned by Trevor Larkee, Trent Kassuelke, Mitchell Espena, and Owen Kunisaki. Another 1st place relay victory occurred during the varsity 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, won by Max Blodgett, Alex Schmidt, Kyle Kunisaki, and Nicholas Phomsouvanh. 3rd place in this relay event was won by Mitchell Espena, William Jerome, Ethan Klein, and Jackson Fox.
Individual performances were strong throughout the night. The excitement began with Alex Schmidt’s 3rd place win during the varsity 200 Yard Freestyle. In the varsity 200 Yard Individual Medley, Kyle Kunisaki took 1st place, with teammate Nate Getman coming in soon after to grab 3rd. Our junior varsity team had great performances in this event as well, with Trent Kassuelke taking 1st place, Yafet Tadesse taking 2nd, and Owen Kunisaki taking 3rd. Kyle Kunisaki secured a second 1st place victory during the varsity 100 Yard Backstroke, winning the race by over six seconds! Ethan Klein had a strong performance during this race as well, taking 3rd place. The 50 Yard Freestyle was yet another exciting event for the Lightning, with both the varsity and junior varsity swimmers taking over 1st and 2nd places! In junior varsity, James Wood won 1st, with teammate Owen Unten coming in a close 2nd; in varsity, Nicholas Phomsouvanh won 1st place and teammate Max Blodgett earned 2nd. Max showed off his butterfly skills later on, winning 1st in the varsity 100 Yard Butterfly race, with teammate Wyatt Olson arriving at the finish shortly after to take 2nd place. In the varsity 100 Yard Freestyle, Nicholas Phomsouvanh and Alex Schmidt raced ahead of the competition and pushed each other to the end, with Nicholas winning 1st place and Alex coming in a very close 2nd! Our varsity 500 Yard Freestyle swimmers showed strength and endurance during their race, with Mitchell Espena earning 2nd place and Sebastian Gillen earning 3rd. In the varsity 100 Yard Breastroke, Nate Getman won 2nd place and Wyatt Olson won 3rd, racking up more points for the Lightning. Our varsity divers showcased many gravity-defying feats, securing even more points for the team. After scoring all of their somersaults, tucks, and twists, Alex Sulistyo won 1st place and Isaac Field took 3rd.
Strong performances in both relay and individual events allowed our swimmers to rack up the score and emerge from the water victorious…..Go, Lightning!
(New) EVHS Boys Swim and Dive Adds Another Win to the Season
The Eastview Boys Swim and Dive Team dominated the pool in their third meet of the season on Tuesday, January 26, extinguishing the Blaze with top Lightning finishes throughout the night.
Our relay teams worked together to show the combined strength of the team, achieving 1st and 2nd place finishes in all relay events. The evening began with the varsity Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay team taking the top three places, with 1st going to Kyle Kunisaki, Nicholas Phomsouvanh, Max Blodgett, and Alex Schmidt, 2nd going to Ethan Klein, Wyatt Olson, Nate Getman, and Hank Staton, and 3rd going to Jackson Fox, Yafet Tadesse, Sean Holmen, and Hunter Dunne. Many of these swimmers jumped into the varsity 200 Yard Freestyle Relay later on, with a strong 1st place finish won by Nicholas Phomsouvanh, Nate Getman, Hank Stanton, and Wyatt Olson. 2nd place in this relay was grabbed by Hunter Dunne, Trevor Larkee, Owen Kunisaki, and Mitchell Espena. At the end of the night, the Lightning ran the pool a third time, taking the top three places in the varsity 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. 1st place was won by Max Blodgett, Alex Schmidt, Kyle Kunisaki, and Wyatt Olson, 2nd place was won by Mitchell Espena, Hunter Dunne, Ethan Klein, and Sebastian Gillen, and 3rd place was won by Trent Kassuelke, Jackson Fox, William Jerome, and Noah Kirshbaum.
Individual swimmers and divers added to our team’s strong performance and displayed the Lightning spirit of determination. In the varsity 200 Yard Freestyle, Mitchell Espena took 1st place and William Jerome came in 3rd, outswimming his competition by over eighteen seconds. Jackson Fox and Noah Kirshbaum showed off their skills in all four strokes during the varsity 200 Yard Individual Medley, Jackson winning 1st place and Noah taking 2nd, racing ahead of the Blaze by over thirty seconds. In the varsity 50 Yard Freestyle, our swimmers swept all three top finishes, 1st place to Kyle Kunisaki, 2nd place to Hank Stanton, and 3rd to Nate Getman. Our junior varsity swimmers had a good showing in this event as well, with Owen Unten coming in 1st, Ethan Beckman 2nd, and Brett Johnson 3rd. A sweep of the top three places was accomplished again during the varsity 100 Yard Freestyle, with Wyatt Olson winning 1st, William Jerome taking 2nd, and Hunter Dunne coming in 3rd. The varsity 100 Yard Backstroke achieved the same feat, with Ethan Klein taking 1st place, Jackson Fox taking 2nd, and Noah Kirshbaum taking 3rd, sailing past the competition by over twenty seconds. The varsity 500 Yard Freestyle swimmers pushed hard to the very end of their race, with Max Blodgett finishing 1st, Sebastian Gillen 2nd, and Trent Kassuelke 3rd. The varsity 100 Yard Breastroke was won by Nicholas Phomsouvanh, followed by teammate Devin Jackson grabbing 2nd place. The varsity 100 Yard Butterfly had two top finishers for the Lightning, 2nd going to Alex Schmidt and 3rd to Mitchell Espena. Our divers had another round of strong performances at this meet, showcasing some difficult dives. After points were tallied, Alex Sulistyo won 1st place and Isaac Field took 3rd.
The EVHS Boys Swim and Dive Team looks forward to taking on their next opponent, diving into the pool to battle Shakopee High School on Friday, January 29. Go, Lightning!
(New) EVHS Varsity Wrestling Results 1/25/21
The Eastview Varsity Wrestling team wrestled two duals on Thursday defeating Cannon Falls 48-33 and lost to Apple Valley 30-39. In the Apple Valley dual earning pins were Nathan Langer, Connor Meixeill, Logan O’Neil, and Kellen Stewart. Other key wins were by Drew Bergstedt and Luke Habeck. Earning 2 wins on the week were Drew Bergstedt, Nathan Langer, and Kellen Stewart. Also earning wins were Vath, Schmidt, Kelley, Formaneck, Habeck, O’Neil, Meixell, and Baccoli. The wrestlers next competition is on Thursday at North/Tartan and again on Friday at Faribault/Byron.
(New) EVHS JV Boys Hockey Wins Over Shakopee - 1/23/21
The Boys JV Hockey Team earned a 2-1 victory over Shakopee on Saturday. Tyler Cords started the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first period. Parker Camerin got the game winner with an assist from Graham Ellingson. Conner Christian held off a late 3rd period flurry by the Sabre’s to secure his first win.
(New) EVHS JV Boys Hockey Beats Burnsville - 1/21/21
The Boys JV Hockey team beat the Burnsville Blaze 5-2 Thursday night. Lead by Tyler Jerstad’s two goals with an assist going to Nate Haraldson, the Lightning outshot the Blaze 38-5 giving sophomore goalie, Jay Svaren his first high school game victory. Other players adding to the scoring were Sean Kalthoff on the power play with an assist going to Graham Ellingson. The Lightning added two more even strength goals when Brady Swenson lit the lamp with an assist going to Nate Stephenson and the final goal coming from Parker Camerin with an assist going to Luke Wasilowski.
(New) EVHS JV Wrestling results 1/25/21
The Eastview Lightning JV Wrestling Team competed against Cannon Falls and Apple Valley at an away meet at Apple Valley on Thursday January 21st. The Lightning defeated Cannon Falls by a score of 48-12. Earning wins for the Lightning, all by fall, were Riley Myers, Landon Odegard, and Ethan Dupont. Several Lightning wrestlers secured wins by forfeit. Dominic Petti and Aiden Columbus also competed with valiant effort.
The Lightning defeated Apple Valley by a score of 36-12. Earning wins by fall for the Lightning were Ryder Repke, Landon Odegard, Ethan Dupont, Hong Lin, and Jack Stevens. Riley Meyers, Calvin Lema, and Aiden Frost Thomas also competed with valiant effort.

(New) EVHS Dance Tech Virtual Winter Dance Projects

(New) EVHS Speech Team Takes First Place at Chanhassen Tournament
Congratulations to the EVHS speech team for taking first place at the Chanhassen Speech tournament last weekend! There were 38 students who advanced to a semifinal or final round. Here are the students who earned top place finishes:
First Place: Alli Hering, Ella Erdahl, Olivia Beach, Thor Reiman, Rhea Saarang, Tanisha Senapati.
Second Place: Hanna Olson, Julia Prewitt, Morgan Oksendahl, Tomas Nelson, Valarie Nguyen, Vikash Girthanan

(New) EVHS BPA Competes at Regions
The EVHS Chapter of Business Professionals of America completed their 2-week Virtual Region Competition with a Virtual Awards Ceremony held on Wednesday, Jan 27th. The following students advanced to the state competition which will be held virtually in March. Please congratulate them for their success and effort in this virtual format.

- Tanisha Kota – Graphic Design Promotion – 1st Place; Presentation Management Individual – 2nd Place. Tanisha also serves as a Region Officer and played a big role in preparing and hosting our Virtual Awards Ceremony!
