LENT - AN OPPORTUNITY TO INVOLVE YOUR CHILDREN
Dear SM Elementary Families,
LENT
Lent is a great time to engage children in their faith both at home and at school. One of my favorite Lenten activities to do with children is the 40 Days Map. If you click on the image here, it will take you to a page with some great resources that you can also use in the home.
PRAY FAST GIVE
We will be starting a Penny War in March from the 1st through the 21st. The funds we raise will be collected for RISE Against Hunger and is in conjunction with the Meal Packing Event on Saturday, May 4th. Please look for more details about our Penny War next week... but in the meantime save those Coins!!!

GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING
In case you need a reminder =) we have some AMAZING things happening here at SM Elementary School. With our mid-year benchmark assessments in STAR and WONDERS, we have been able to see some OUTSTANDING growth in our student learning. Our teachers, learning support services and myself, can hardly believe how much our students are learning and growing each day. Our dedicated teachers, small class sizes and the system's dedication to our learning support services are just a few of the reasons why we are seeing such success. I will be working on some graphics to show you all just how well our students are doing! Get excited because this is YOUR child's elementary school!
BOOK FAIR - LITERACY NIGHT
I encourage everyone to attend the Literacy Night at St. Gabe's on the evening of March 4th. This will be a fun evening of reading activities, book fair, and other fun things related to reading! Some of our teachers will be leading several of these activities. I hope you can make it!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Crystal Blahnik

Board of Trustees
Call for New Board Members: Looking to share your skills? Consider joining the SMCS Board of Trustees (BOT). The BOT helps to enhance SMCS with leadership, guidance, decision-making, financial support, and public relations. Each year we look for individuals with business, marketing, legal, Human Resources, or financial backgrounds; but most importantly, you must be ready to help our Catholic schools grow. We are seeking Catholic individuals who are alumni, parents, parish members, or anyone with a connection to our school system. Trustees are elected to one three-year term of office and may serve a subsequent term.
We are currently accepting candidates for consideration. Please contact Paul Seveska at paulpsev@aol.com if you are interested.
