Highland Middle School
Dear HMS Families,
I hope everyone has been enjoying the warmer weather and taking advantage of being outdoors! I have a few things to share for this month.
Students who opted to return to school in-person will begin this change the week of March 15th. Students who needed bus transportation should be contacted by the bus drivers prior to this week. Please note the following:
Monday, March 15th-A Day Students
Tuesday, March 16th-B Day Students
Wednesday, March 17th-Remote Learning Day
Thursday, March 18th-B Day Students
Friday, March 19th-No Classes, Teacher Workday
The 3rd quarter marking period will end on Wednesday, March 24th. Report cards will be mailed home on Tuesday, March 30th. Please make sure that any phone or address changes have been made by contacting the school. An update to the calendar was also made that changed March 26th from a remote learning day to an in-person learning day.
Tryouts for baseball, softball, and girls soccer will be March 29th-31st. All students trying out must have a physical on file and be in good academic standing. If you have any questions, you can contact our Athletic Director, Brad Peffly, with any questions you may have.
Just a heads up that there will be end of grade testing this year. More information will be shared as we approach the end of the school year but please make sure that your children are attending classes daily and actively participating. Grades and attendance can be viewed by parents through the Parent Portal.
The Reassignment window for the 2021-2022 school year has also opened and will run from February 15th through April 16th, 2021. This is an online process for parents who want their child to attend a school outside their assigned attendance area. This application must be done each year for students. This application can be found by going to the Harnett County Schools website at www.harnett.k12.nc.us and clicking on "Student Support Services". Click on the link for "2020-2021 SY Student Reassignment/Non-Discretionary Admission (Online Application)".
Finally, just a reminder that elementary students will return to a 5 day week beginning on March 22nd for those students participating in in-person instruction.
