BCS School Community:

We know you are aware of the nationwide shortage of employees for all types of positions including bus drivers. This summer we added many qualified drivers to our roster and we thank them for choosing BCS. We are being proactive in letting you know that while we have added team members, we may still experience shortages as we add and expand routes due to demand and growth.

Our bus drivers/aides are awesome, but like you, there are times when they can not report to work. Even a few absences can create shortages across our routes. So, from time-to-time, it may be necessary to substitute a bus on a route, make route schedule adjustments or cancel a bus route due to staff shortages. Schedule changes and bus route adjustments are not how we want to operate but often this is the best course of action to get all students transported to and from school.

As we finish our first week of school, please recognize that we will continue to make route adjustments to best serve our school community.

Have a back-up plan.

Having a backup plan for your student that is shared and practiced is extremely important. Creating and discussing a backup plan for your family/students will help minimize the impact should your bus route experience a schedule adjustment or cancelation.

Keeping you and your family informed and aware of possible adjustments or cancellations is important to us. This becomes even more critical if no one is home at the time the student leaves or returns from school.

Please know that BCS continues to do our best to serve our students, families, and community. We are sharing this information in the hopes you and your family can plan accordingly should the need arise.

How will I know the status of my bus?

To help keep our school community informed, route adjustments/cancelations will be made available via the Transportation Dashboard updated live each day and cancelations communicated via NTouch to those schools experiencing a bus cancelation.

  • If a route must be adjusted or canceled, BCS will contact families to share next steps for transporting students to school sites.
  • Those affected will be contacted via NTouch, the school district text/email alert system, by 6:10 a.m.

You can access the dashboard through and also through our app, Berkeley County Schools WV, available via your mobile device's app store. Please note that changes/updates to the dashboard will be made as information is available. Be sure to check-in regularly for the most up-to-date information on your student's bus route.
