English Language Arts (ELA)
We have been busy filming our iMovies on the ipads, and have been rehearsing our play. We will be creating our scenery for Stone Soup A Rock Opera and filming our cereal commercials next week. I like to end the year with some fun activities, and I think the children are enjoying themselves.
Science
We learned about how a plant's habitat can influence the plant's ability to thrive and survive. We played a game called Plant Survival. Today we took our end of unit test.
Math
We took our end of unit Geometry Test. We are wrapping up the year by reviewing skills covered previously in the year. The students seem to relly be enjoying the Kahoot review activiites. The district set a rather high goal in the area of Math fact fluency. As 2nd graders, in order to recieve a meets on the report card, they must get 64 problems correct in two minutes. I think 45 would be a more realistic goal. We practice our Math facts every day using XtraMath and Math JAm session on Front Row. It will be important for your children to continue practicing these facts over the summer.
FYI
Thank You and Requests
- Thanks so much for making me feel so special during Teacher Appreciation week last week. I enjoyed each and every day's special surprises. I liked getting all the thoughtful notes and the glue sticks and dry erase markers for the classroom.
- A note from Mrs. Ashby-Please share my heartfelt gratitude with your students and their families for a wonderful teacher appreciation week. Their generosity created a mountain of brand new pencils and other school supplies that will be used by students in the LRC during our lesson weeks. The kind words and sweet pictures in their fan mail really touched my heart. Working in the LRC at AGS is always a pleasure, but I was really feeling the love last week! Thank you for your kindness and support!
