Message From Your Friendly Neighborhood Principal
In light of school safety, we want to continue to communicate and uphold the highest safety and security standards here at Buffett Middle School. Please note that during building hours, students are supervised at all times. As students enter and exit the building, there is at least one adult (sometimes multiple) monitoring each door for security. Classroom doors are closed and locked at all times. In an extra effort to affirm our safety and security measures, we would like to boldly state that our building doors will be locked before school and will not open until 7:00 A.M.
Students are not to be in the building or on property before this time. Doors will be unlocked from 7:00-7:45 A.M. and then once again locked until the end of our school day, which is at 3:05 PM. Additionally, at 3:15 P.M., our doors will once again be locked. The only exception will be for school-related athletics and activities. Once again, the purpose for this firm dedication to building hours is so that we may continue to uphold the highest security standards for the safety of our students.
There is nothing more important than keeping our Bobcats safe.
Spring Break!
Please also note that due to the beginning of Spring Break, there will be no after school activities on Friday, March 9. This also means there are no late bus services available on Friday, March 9.
Buffett Making an Impact - "See You Again"
On February 16, 2018, a group of our 7th & 8th Grade students performed at he the South Omaha Classic Show Choir competition at South High School. While our choir did not win an award, the following excerpt is from the Sidney Argus-Herald in Sidney, IA. It was written by Teresa Jamison, who is the grandmother of a student from Lewis Central Middle School Choir.
Mrs. Jamison writes:
"The group of 7th and 8th graders from Alice Buffett Magnet Middle School performed with a sensitivity and 'sweetness' that captured our hearts. These kids were from every neighborhood, every economic level, every color, shape, and size you could imagine, but they pulled us in with their beautiful voices and blending of choreographic abilities."
"'See You Again' by Charlie Puth was the number that brought us all to tears. Consider the thoughts of any teen losing their best friends while you read the lyrics." (and then they quoted the song).
Congratulations to this wonderful and talented group of students who demonstrated Buffett values, and congratulations to Mrs. Jennifer Craven, whose leadership inspired this outstanding performance!
