The Olympic Triathlon!
Way to go Chile!
Our Highlights: What We've Been Rockin' At!
The Olympic Triathlon was a hit with the "Red Hot Chileans!" We couldn't JUST be any country...no, we needed to be a country that Rocked! We learned about Chile and compared that to our Rocker style to make our Rockin' flag!
After all that hard work on the triathlon, we needed a story to bring our exhausted selves down. We learned further about thin and thick questions and read the story Put Me in the Zoo by Robert Lopshire. It is a fantastic story about a polka-dotted leopard who can change colors and even juggle his own spots. We came up with many amazing thick questions during this story and then I asked a thick question..."What do you think it would be like if we could juggle red dots just like the leopard?" Then, I actually grabbed the red dot off the page (out of nowhere) tossed it up in the air, put it in one ear and pulled it out the other, and I even put it up my nose and coughed it back up. Then, I placed it back on the page. Don't believe me? Ask your kid!
Ask them also how you think I might have done it!
Oh the pure joy of creating wonder...let's keep inspiring them to be inquisitive!
We took a lot of trimester assessments this week! A lot! These assessments, along with many others, will allow me to make sure that I can be completely and utterly accurate and up-to-date when completing the report cards and speaking with you at conferences.
We also learned about similes. They compare two things and use "like" or "as." We compared Mrs. Battin to a rose. Here is one Megan came up with, "Mrs. Battin is like a rose because she has working cells." Others mentioned that "Mrs. Battin is as delicate as a rose," and that she is "as pretty as a rose."
Help your child create a simile about you!
