God Is With Me & Only Wants My Best
This Sunday, preschoolers are learning that "When I'm Scared, God Is With Me" from the story of Gideon in Judges 6, while elementary kids are learning "When I Feel I Need To Be Perfect, Jesus Only Wants My Best" from the story of Martha's visit with Jesus in Luke 10.
Throughout this entire series, we'll be using STOP, LOOK, & LISTEN to learn about how the Lord wants to help us with our emotions.
STOP- to identify how you feel
- This week we're focusing specifically on the feelings of being scared or perfectionistic.
LOOK- at what's causing you to feel this way
LISTEN- to what God has to say about it
- To know what God has to say about how we feel, we have to know the truth, His word. Believing lies can be something that stirs up unhealthy emotions, but we fight that with the truth.
Each week of this series I want share some truth that may fight lies that might be feeding into emotions. This might be for you. It might be for you to share with a kid or parent on Sunday. Or maybe even both!
Truth We Can Remember When We're Feeling Scared or Perfectionistic
- Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
- For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. 2 Timothy 1:7
- There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
- Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people. Colossians 3:23
- It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:32
- Because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. Hebrews 10:14
Load In Help?
Every Sunday, we get to build the church together to prepare the way for all the Lord wants to do in the hearts of people on Sunday.
If you'd be willing to be on a list of people that we can reach out to when we need some extra help during Load In, that would be a huge help! Our normal load in time is from 5:30am-7:30am.
