Panorama Survey

Dear Edmondson Parents and Guardians,

We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. Thompson School District values input from our community – and we need to hear from your child or children!

In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking students in grades 3-5 to participate in an online survey. The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on emotion regulation, social awareness, growth mindset, perseverance, sense of belonging, school safety, and teacher-student relationships.

Your child will be invited to participate in this survey online during regular school hours during the week of November 6-10, 2023. When the survey is introduced, students will be invited to participate in the survey, as well as informed that they do not have to answer any questions that they do not wish to answer. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete. Please click on these links for survey questions: Grades 3-5 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 6-12 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 3-5 Supports & Environments Survey, Grades 6-12 Supports & Environments Survey

Student responses to the survey will be confidential. We are partnering with a third-party vendor who has signed the district’s Data Privacy Agreement to ensure all required online encryption protocols are followed. The section of the survey regarding your child's feedback on their school is confidential, and staff will NOT know how your student responded individually. The section of the survey regarding your child's needs for support in growing their own social emotional skills is handled differently; while your child's teacher cannot see individual answers, they will be able to see your child's needs by topic (e.g., sense of belonging) to be able to support them appropriately.

Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the surveys by filling in your name and your child’s name below and returning it to school by Monday, October 30, 2023. You do not need to fill anything out if your child will be participating in the survey. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 970-613-6300.

Sincerely,

John Berg, Principal
