This Week in Second Step Lessons

Every week when we conduct a new lesson, we will let families know what is covered so that you can continue to support the initiative from home.

Topics this Week

6th Graders will discuss evaluate each upstander strategy (speaking up, offering support, and telling a trusted adult) in depth, with an emphasis on safety. They’ll evaluate the safety of each upstander strategy in different situations and consider their own level of comfort with each strategy.

7th Graders will understand how they’re protected from harassment at school and their responsibility not to harass others.

8th Graders will explore two more strategies—making school more inclusive and requesting policy changes—to disrupt bullying and harassment.
