We Are Learning...
Reading
This week in reading we talked about how readers grow in longer fiction books. We used some the strategies learned earlier in our year and dug deeper into understanding how we can use these with longer books. We really focused on characters voice this week. We read and reread parts of our story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to practice and show these character voices. We discovered when we read our characters differently sometimes their attributes or traits seem different too.
Writing
This week in writing began to uncover our opinions about the books we read. Students gathered more of their favorite books. They used these books to look at titles, covers, and lessons the story teaches us. Students continue to write letters to other readers trying to persuade them to read these favorite books. Students then picked one letter they had written and decided who and where they would deliver their letter.
