Please click the link below to fill out a Student Residency Questionnaire. This usually goes home in the beginning of the year packets, but we are going digital this year. It is very short, and we greatly appreciate your time in filling this out.

Reminders for In- Person Learning:

It has been so great to have students back in the building! We have missed them! We are off to a good start for in-person learning.

Below are some reminders:

  • Devices issued by Mahanay need to be kept at school.
  • Don't forget to send the chargers if you haven't already.
  • Students must wear a mask daily.
  • Dismissal is at 3:20.
  • Car riders all have a designated number. Please help your student to remember their number. This will make dismissal go faster.
  • Please update any phone numbers that have changed in case we need to contact you.

Overall, the students have done an amazing job following the new rules and procedures. Thank you, parents, for your continued support in helping to keep our students and staff healthy. Please call us with any questions or concerns.

Virtual Learning Updates:

Virtual learners have been doing a wonderful job as well! Thank you, parents, for your continued support as we adjust schedules and such to navigate both the in-person and virtual teaching. We appreciate your patience as we continue to improve upon our virtual teaching skills!

Attention Kindegarten, 1st, and 2nd grade parents:

We have the next textbooks for you to pickup for your students. Please come to the school between 8:30 and 2:30 to pick up the next textbook. Ms. Martin also have a packet for you to complete and return upon completion as part of the beginning of the year registration process.

Please call or email with any concerns or questions. We are here to help!

Counselor's Corner

Next week is Mahanay's College Week, we will have several activities at school regarding information about colleges. Students may wear a college shirt of their choice!

Red Ribbon Week is coming up October 26-30th. A calendar will be shared next week to let you know what the dress up days are.

We are still having character dress up day on October 30th! We will not have the school wide parade this year. There will be a "virtual parade" instead. Start getting your costumes ready to represent your favorite character!

Mahanay Dress Code

  • Masks are required
  • Any solid color collared shirts
  • Pants or knee length shorts (khaki, navy, or blue jeans)
  • Dresses and skirts must be knee length (Khaki or navy)
  • Fridays are college shirt day! Wear the college shirt of your choice!
  • Mahanay School Shirts can be worn any day of the week.
  • Jeans may be worn with a Mahanay School Shirt any day of the week

If your child comes to school out of dress code, we will give you a call and ask you to bring the appropriate attire.

***Please allow your student to practice wearing a mask at home, so they can get used to it. They will have it on for a long time during the day at school.

Tardies and Early Release

Our procedures for tardies and early release have changed slightly this year, since we are not allowed to have non-staff members in the buildings without appointments.

Students are tardy if they arrive after 7:55 am. If your child arrives after 7:55 am, they will receive a tardy pass from the front office when they walk in. Parents are no longer permitted to walk them in if they are late. You may walk them to the door, and we will help them get to class from there.

Early Release:

If you need to pick your child up from school early, please call the front office to let them know. 281-983-8355. If you call and let us know when you are close, we can get your child ready for you when you arrive.

We do still need to check your ID before we release any children. When you arrive, please come to the front door with your mask on and your ID ready to show a staff member. After we have verified your ID, we will release your student to you.

Looking for after school care for your child?

As you know, Alief is phasing in an in-person option for students to attend school. That means our after school program, Alief CIA, will be available for after school care. Please view the flyer below and go to their website to register.
