Future Ready Focus
Volume II
Celebrating Innovation
The WISD Curriculum & Instruction department wants to highlight teachers around the district who are creating future ready learning opportunities for their students! Here are just a few of the amazing things we saw while visiting campuses and following #whywisd on Twitter.
Mega Lunch at NGC and WHS is used as a time for clubs, tutoring, guest speakers and more! WHS is using the app SCHED to share with their students what is offered each week. Check out just a sampling of some of the things students had access to last week.
And So Does Our Human Resources Department!
Monty Chapman, Executive Director of Human Resources, held a Google Hangout on Air to explain the new salary schedule to teachers, nurses & librarians. Employees who were unable to view the Hangout at the designated time, were able to watch the recorded version. At this time, close to 100 people have viewed the recording.

#N2WISD Chat a Success
We held the first #N2WISD Twitter Chat during the 2nd week of school and had a great time! We were fortunate to have a great showing of teachers from Austin Elementary! This is an opportunity to connect, share and support our new to Weatherford ISD teachers. We will meet on Mondays at 8:30 pm with a new topic each week. This week's topic is Project Based Learning/Genius Hour and including student driven questioning in your classroom. Curtis Elementary teachers will help facilitate the chat this week. Join us!
See below for tweets from the last chat.
Google Teacher Certification
Congratulations to Austin Elementary teacher Julia Bingham for completing Google Educator Level 1 certification. More teachers are beginning the certification process, so we have created a Google+ Community to support & learn from each other. You can join HERE.

Region 11 Hosts Marshmallow Challenge & Global Collaboration Day
The Marshmallow Challenge is a remarkably fun and instructive design exercise that encourages teams to experience simple but profound lessons in collaboration, innovation and creativity. Get teams into a creative frame of mind and invest 40 minutes to run The Marshmallow Challenge. The task is simple: in eighteen minutes, teams must build the tallest free-standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string, and one marshmallow.
Many classes across the district will be participating on Thursday. If you are interested in participating, you can register HERE!
