AREA ADVENTURES
Third graders in Ms. Ackerman's class have been using interactive ways to practice finding area and perimeter.
Interactive approaches such as those pictured here actively engage students in the learning process, helping develop deeper comprehension and retention of math concepts.
EMPOWERING TOMORROW'S LEADERS
Henry Elementary School is in their second year of utilizing the Leader in Me program, an evidence-based model that helps build leadership and life skills in students while also supporting academic growth and achievement. The Leader in Me framework believes that everyone can be a leader, and this model is helping even the youngest students learn essential life skills such as taking initiative, planning ahead, setting goals, and solving problems.
As part of this program, Mrs. Potter’s kindergarten class recently created classroom leadership roles. These roles are classroom duties that each student independently chose to help keep their classroom environment clean, organized, and safe. As a team, they are working together to become amazing leaders!

JOINING THE MUSICAL MOVEMENT
The time is nearing for our Clinton Intermediate School 5th graders to call themselves middle schoolers!
One of the many opportunities students will have available to them at Clinton Middle School is the district's very successful and popular band program. Earlier this month, 5th graders met assistant band director, Katie Klinksick, and several Clinton High School band students. Students enjoyed listening to band students play their instruments and many are excited to call themselves band members next year.

STONE SOUP MAGIC
Preschoolers in Ms. Dawna's and Ms. Nevada's class recently read the book, Stone Soup. As students worked on their story comprehension and retelling skills, they made a list of the ingredients to make their own Stone Soup; stones, carrots, onions, water, broth, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Students were excited to see that the "stones" were actually mini potatoes!
SOPHOMORES VISIT CTS
Earlier this month, Clinton Technical School held their annual "Sophomore Event". Close to 500 sophomores from 11 school districts (including Clinton High School) had the opportunity to learn about the great opportunities available to them at Clinton Technical School. Students rotated through all seven of the school's programs, heard from instructors and current students of these programs, and learned about the benefits of career and technical education.
Thanks to our community partners GVMH, PLZ, State Fair Community College, Equity Bank, Hawthorn Bank, Legacy Bank, TC Transcontinental, and Caseys for helping to make the day a huge success. We appreciate your continued support of our schools and students.

CARDINAL CHECKMATE
Help us welcome the newest after school club at Clinton Middle School …Chess Club!
Chess Club students were excited to learn, play and challenge each other in a game that requires strategy and skill. The sponsors for this club are Mrs. Mandi Taylor and Mrs. Tonya Harrison. Students meet the second Monday of each month and are looking for more CMS students to join their club!

REVVING UP SUCCESS
One very exciting piece about the CTE (Career and Technical Education) programs at Clinton Technical School and Clinton High School, are the opportunities students have to earn industry-recognized credentials and take part in internships here in our community.
Students in Mr. Stone's Automotive Technology class are earning career credentials through the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Entry-Level Certification program. Over the course of two years, students can earn 8 entry-level certifications and 2 advanced certifications.
Not only is Mr. Stone able to use the ASE exams to verify students' understanding of skills that have been taught, these certifications also allow students to make themselves marketable to potential employers even before they graduate high school. The Automotive Technology program currently has seven students who are participating in internships here in Clinton and the surrounding areas. The district is thankful for the strong partnerships we have with our community, and are always looking for more!

TUNING INTO KINDNESS
Clinton High School band students recently took a quick break from making music to make their classmates' day. Students played a game of “Right Back Atcha”, in which they wrote secret words of kindness about their peers on their backs. Students are keeping these papers to look at when they need a pick-me-up!
Over 200 students at CMS and CHS are a part of the district's band programs. Many students enter band in 6th grade and stick with it through their senior year in high school. We are pretty proud of our band programs and the friendships and opportunities they provide students. Band students are taught by Pat Miles and Katie Klinksick.

- SOCIAL MEDIA-The first notification you will receive about a school closure will come from our district's social media pages (Facebook and Instagram).
- TEXT, EMAIL, APP, AND PHONE-This will quickly be followed by a text message, email, app notification and phone call. The successful delivery of this information is dependent upon accurate contact information obtained from school records. If your contact information changes, please let your child's school office know as soon as possible. Only those who have opted-in to receive text messages (text Y to 67587 from the cell number the district has on file for you), or those who have downloaded the district app (search for Clinton School District on your App Store or Google Play) will receive the text message and app notification.

AMI AND LATE START REMINDERS
ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF INSTRUCTION (AMI)
DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) allows school districts to implement Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) plans on days that school is not able to be in session due to inclement weather. When school districts implement their AMI plan, the school hours lost due to closure do not have to be made up. For the remainder of the year, the district will most likely implement its AMI plans on days that school must be closed due to inclement weather. Below are the plans for each building:
CECC-Google Classroom or learning packets. Teachers will communicate expectations with parents.
Henry-Learning packets will be sent home prior to a possible AMI day.
CIS-Learning packets will be sent home prior to a possible AMI day.
CMS-Teachers will communicate with students the expectations or learning packets will be sent home prior to a possible AMI day.
CHS-Google Classroom
CTS-Google Classroom
****Please note that the attendance of each student on an AMI day is based on their completion of assignments from their teachers. Assignments must be submitted the first day school is in session after an AMI day.****
2-HOUR LATE START INFORMATION
Please be aware that if the district chooses to have a late start due to weather conditions, all buildings will start 2 hours later than normal. Students riding the bus to school would be picked up 2 hours later than normal as well. Breakfast will not be served.
The following would be the start times for each building for a late start:
CHS/CTS-9:45 (doors open at 9:15)
CMS-9:45 (doors open at 9:25)
CIS-10:05 (doors open at 9:30)
Henry Elementary-10:10 (doors open at 9:30)
CECC-

- full day classes start at 10:00 (doors open at 9:55)
- 1/2 day afternoon classes regular schedule
If you should have any questions about any of the information above, please reach out to your child's school.
EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION PROGRAM
The Cardinal Compliment program is a way for you to salute any Clinton School District employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you're a parent impressed with that special touch your child's teacher added to a moment, a coworker who thinks their colleague doesn't hear often enough about the great job they are doing, or a community member who witnesses a staff member’s commitment to kids - you can send a Cardinal Compliment!
Supervisors, including the superintendent, will see your submission. The employee will receive a certificate of gratitude and a token of appreciation that lets everyone know he or she was given a Cardinal Compliment.
Every month, Cardinal Compliment recipients will be listed on the district website and posted on the district Facebook page to let others know the names of the district's difference makers!
