A Message from Mrs. Binnick:
Hi, I’m Mrs. Binnick. I am delighted to be a part of the Laurel Park family as the K-5 art specialist. I have already had a chance to meet many of your children and look forward to making art with them soon.
I graduated from The University of Iowa with my degrees in Art and Elementary Education. I also am a certified reading teacher, and I love integrating literature and other core subjects into art lessons. I have been an educator for 14 years, and teaching at the elementary level is my favorite place to be!
I am originally from Wisconsin, but have called North Carolina home since 2007. My husband and I have two sweet toddlers at home, and this keeps us happy and busy!
I hope to meet many of you this year, and welcome any parent volunteers who are interested in helping out with the art program. You can contact me at lbinnick@wcpss.net if you are interested. Lastly, I am collecting packaged baby wipes and Kleenex. I will have a website coming soon that will have additional information on it.
Artfully Yours,
Mrs. Binnick

New Social Thinking Special with Mrs. V:
Students today are expected to develop the skills of abstract thinking, collaboration and effective communication. Social Thinking helps children understand and develop those skills. Social skills are incredibly complex and yet they are essential to every aspect of our life. Our new special will be giving Laurel Park students tools to navigate those social skills. More information for parents can be found on my website: laurelparksocialthinking.weebly.com.
