COVID-19 Updates
Did you read the recent email from Dr. Hartwell regarding COVID-19 Updates?
The Cayuga County Health Department has adopted the NYS Department of Health guidance regarding isolation of COVID positive individuals, as well as quarantine requirements for those who were exposed to a positive case. Effective immediately, the following procedures will be followed for all Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES staff and students:
If POSITIVE for COVID-19:
- The isolation period is five days, with “day 0” being the day of symptom onset, or, if asymptomatic, the day of collection of a positive test.
- “Day 1” starts the following day and the positive individual should isolate for 5 days, returning on day 6, providing the individual is asymptomatic or symptoms are resolving.
- The individual should wear a well-fitting mask while around others for an additional 5 days.
- If a positive individual is moderately-severely immunocompromised or cannot wear a well-fitting mask for the additional 5 days, they should quarantine for 10 days.
If EXPOSED to a positive COVID-19 case:
- If not vaccinated, close contacts must quarantine for 5 days, where “day 0” is the initial date of exposure, and wear a well-fitting mask while around others for another 5 days.
- If vaccinated, no quarantine is required, but wear a well-fitting mask while around others for 10 days after the date of exposure.
EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 7, 2022:
To be considered FULLY VACCINATED, individuals must have received their vaccination, including booster, if eligible. You are eligible for the booster if:
- It has been 2 months since your original dose of J&J
- It has been 5 months since your original doses of Pfizer
- It has been 5 months since your original doses of Moderna.
Please see the attachments below for a summary of the new guidance and a helpful Q&A document.
