NEW LEARNING!
Please work with your child at home on their sight word lists. I will be testing them regularly on Fridays.
Math Facts folder will come home Tuesday. This will be similar to our sight word process. Nationwide educators are seeing a trend in decreasing math scores and research finds that one cause is that students are lacking rote memory of basic math facts; therefore, they are having difficulty processing multi step math equations in the upper grades. To help your children build a strong foundation in basic math facts, I will need your help. In your child's envelope you will find one addition fact book 0-10 and one subtraction fact book 0-10 as well as index cards. Please use these to make flash cards for your child to practice. Once your child has quickly mastered each fact, you can move on to the next fact. Start with zero and then move up. Please store the math fact envelope in your child's backpack. I will fill in the books when I assess students on their facts every Friday.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
