Ravine Drive Elementary School
December 2021
December Highlights
Dear Ravine Drive Families:
December is such an exciting and magical time for children. At Ravine Drive, the children are eager to share stories about the many joyous ways they are spending time with family and friends at various celebrations throughout the month!
Ravine Drive is also happy to share great news about two of our staff members. It is with great joy that I announce Ravine Drive Elementary School's Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Teixeira, and Ravine Drive Elementary School's Educational Services Professional of the Year, Mrs. Bacharde! Both of these educators embody the dedication and inspiration that make a difference in the lives of the children at Ravine Drive. We are so proud to have them representing us this year!
Thank you all for your cooperation and support this school year! Wishing you all a season of good health and happiness.
Ms. Jessie Zitarosa
Principal

Kiss and Drop Loop Safety
If you are using the Kiss and Drop loop to "drop-off" your child, please have your child exit along the passenger side of your vehicle, whenever possible, so they can exit onto the sidewalk.
Also, please be mindful of all areas marked in yellow or those designated as Fire Lanes. Vehicles cannot park in designated fire lanes.
Nurse Lorenzo's Tips for Good Health
DECEMBER HEALTH AND WELLNESS TIPS
1. Flu Season- Wash hands often to help prevent the spread of germs. Wash your hands with soap and clean running water for at least 20 seconds.
2. Be a Healthy Role Model- Show children to eat a variety of foods and monitor portion sizes at holiday celebrations.
3. Fasten Seat Belts While Driving or Riding in a Motor Vehicle- Always buckle your children in the car using a child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt according to their height, weight, and age. Buckle up every time, no matter how short the trip and encourage passengers to do the same.
4. Practice Fire Safety- Most residential fires occur during the winter months, so don’t leave fireplaces, space heaters, food cooking on stoves, or candles unattended. Have an emergency plan and practice it regularly.
5. Stay Hydrated- Winter weather can be rough on skin. Hydrate from the inside out by beginning each day with a full glass of water. Stay hydrated by drinking one glass of water before every meal.
