Howdy Parents!

Welcome Back Bulldog Parents!

It was nice seeing many of you on Meet the Teacher Night. I'm excited for another full-filled year of learning and fun with your Brainy Bulldog! The kiddos are pretty excited to have a cool new classroom to create in (thanks Ms. Pierce🙂).

Those of you new to G/T...welcome! I look forward to getting to know your kiddo and to partnering with you in making this a successful year.

G/T pull-out will begin the week of August 23rd. Once my schedule is finalized, I will share it. It's going to be a great school year!

Supplies Needed-G/T Binder

Please purchase a one inch binder with a clear front plastic pocket for your child to use for all things G/T (any color will work). If your kiddo has their binder from last year he/she can use the same one. Please have your kiddo bring the binder to school the week of August 22nd. They will need the binder pretty regularly this school year, so it is important they keep it in their backpack. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

G/T Service Design

All students who are identified as gifted/ talented will participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.

They will accomplish this by:

  • Classroom teachers provide differentiated instruction in the core subjects.
  • Receiving weekly pull-outs/ push-ins by G/T ELT Teacher
  • Students are clustered in classes with a teacher who has met the state G/T training requirements.
  • Students participate in G/T Expo, which highlights their completed independent study projects.
  • G/T students are met with each week to work on research instruction, independent project work, and other group activities.
  • Classroom teachers are supported with strategies and training specific for G/T students.

G/T Curriculum

Humble ISD has joined up with the National Inventors Hall of Fame to bring our G/T learners the Design Thinking Project. Kiddos build confidence and learn the value of their creativity through collaboration and brainstorming to solve real-world problems using an inventor-informed Design Thinking Process. Once they identify a problem, they sketch their ideas, design logos, construct prototypes, and develop marketing campaigns. Along the way, campers will learn how to protect their work and promote their creations using the power of intellectual property. They will...Invent the future!

The curriculum also supports Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) skills, such as: self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, self-management, and relationship skills.

Take a look at the video below...it is a brief overview/sneak peek of the part of the unit we will be completing. We are sure to have lots of fun while learning together! (The video says during the summer...disregard that..)
