Reel History Final

Braveheart
I liked Braveheart because of Mel Gibson. Of my favorite films that i have watched the two that i seem to like the most that are about history are The Patriot, and Braveheart. These two movies seem to bring me in with the role play throughout the movie. These films seem to have everything a viewer wants to see such as humor, action, and drama. Another reason that this is my favorite is the way it gave me knowledge on the Scottish Rebellion and how Scotland fought for their freedom.
Amistad
Amistad had the biggest impression on me due to the information it gave me about the slave trade. This film was about the African slaves that were being sent to America to be sold. This film did a great job showing the hardships that the slaves had to face on their journey to america. On the ships the slaves eat very little food, were treated badly, and had to sleep naked and in very tight spaces. most slaves were arriving to America either being sick with a disease. During the Journey some slaves were throw over board because they would not survive. This is why it had the biggest impression on me.
The Alamo
This was my least favorite film because of how bad i thought the acting was in it. I thought that this movie was very unrealistic and was not good role play at all. this film was about the American and Mexican war. The Americans defended the Alamo Against the army of Santa Anna. The Mexican army became victorious as the took the Alamo and continued into the United States of America. The were stopped by Sam Houston and his army at the battle of Jacinto. I believe that if this movie was better acting, and a better role play that it would be a very good film.
WWII and Mexican American War
My favorite time period that we covered was WWII, The least Favorite would have to be the Mexican American War. I liked WWII Because i think WWII is one of the most interesting part of History. I loved the movie Pearl Harbor which was over the attack on American That brought The United States into the war. I also liked the Band of Brothers series that we watched. My least favorite topic was the Mexican, American war. I simply did not like this because we did not spend a lot of time on this topic and the films were very bad such as the Alamo.
How These Films from 1600-1945 Shaped America
The films that we watched stretches for over 300 years of History. We watched many films that covered many topics in American history. We also watched the film Braveheart which was the only film that was not American history. I believe that this class was very beneficial due to how close the pace was to my U.S. History class. It seemed like we were always on the same topics. I also seemed to do better learning about the history of America this way. My view of the United States is very good after watching all of these films. I believe that our history was very interesting and that as a country we made some good and bad decisions along the way but that it was all apart of making us how we are today, And the United States is the best Around!!!
