The top three students from each GRADE (not class) will participate in our championship spelling bee (at the school) on Friday, October 15 (right after morning mass). Parents are welcome to attend!

Field trip to UOP - BLOCK Conference on October 1
The Community Involvement Program (CIP) Black Student Union (BSU) and Community Involvement Program Student Association (CIPSA) are proud to present BLOCK (Building Leaders Overcoming Challenges with Knowledge) Conference at the University of the Pacific. Founded in 1969, Pacific’s Community Involvement Program (CIP) has evolved from historic roots into a premier, comprehensive retention and scholarship program for first generation and low-income Stockton residents from underrepresented backgrounds. CIP has a six-year graduation rate of 87% and includes an experienced curriculum with an emphasis on leadership development and community service, especially targeting disconnected Stockton youth.
In addition to mentoring and college workshops, CIP created the BLOCK (Building Leaders Overcoming Challenges with Knowledge) Conference to motivate and empower Stockton Unified youth, specifically young African American and Latino students.
In collaboration with alumni, community advocates, organizations and agencies, discussion panels and topics are designed specifically for local underrepresented youth promoting academic and personal excellence.
The mission of the BLOCK conference is to connect, inspire and support local youth to engage and excel academically, promote responsibility and self-advocacy, and improve communication and self-efficacy. Ultimately, encouraging educational engagement leads to college as a realistic option for each youth.
The conference includes empowering motivational guest speakers, as well as Mayor Kevin Lincoln as the keynote speaker. Moreover, discussion topics will consist of foundation building, leadership building and tools to Success. We will also have a LIVE performance by local sensation and America’s Got Talent Season15 Winner BRANDON LEAKE.
Parents, please ask your child's teacher or call our school office for more information.

Proud to partner with University of the Pacific for the benefit of our students!
..UOP Community Involvement Program students work with our students through the CHASE Your Dreams Mentoring program. This is the third year we have worked together!
...UOP BLOCK conference extended the invitation to attend to our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and our young alumni that are all at SMHS (usually, its only 7th and 8th grade students).
...Many of our students receive speech services through the UOP Scottish Rite Language Center and literacy support through the UOP Language and Literacy Center.
Thank you UOP!

Morning Prayer with Staff

Maverick City! Mrs. Jauregui's FAVORITE Christian Group...right now, anyway!
By design, this band works to include people from all walks of life for the sole purpose of praising God...and it calls to our youth! An amazing testimony in action as our young people struggle to know they are known by God and loved beyond measure.
Here is a sample of one of several amazing songs...I hope you look them up on Youtube and try ALL of their songs.
Our next adventure will be to the Jeremy Camp concert on October 10th at the Bob Hope Theater - requires evidence of vaccination and/or a negative test result within 36 hours of the start time. I am including a track from Jeremy Camp below. You will notice that Maverick City and Jeremy Camp have very different worship styles...so many ways to praise the Lord for all of the blessings He has bestowed on us. Hope to see many of our families at the concert.
Sing along with "Refiner" by Maverick City
Sing along with "I'll Take You Back" by Jeremy Camp
The reason why I stand
The answer lies in You
You hung to make me strong
Though my praise was few
When I fall, I bring Your name down
But I have found in You
A heart that bleeds forgiveness
Replacing all these thoughts of painful memories
But I know that Your response will always be
I'll take you back always, yeah
Even when your fight is over now
Even when your fight is over now
I'll take you back always, yeah
Even when the pain is coming through
Even when the pain is coming through
I'll take you back
You satisfy this cry of what I'm lookin' for
And I'll take all I can
And lay it down before
The throne of endless grace, now
That radiates what's true
I'm in the only place that
Erases all these faults that have overtaken me
But I know that Your response will always be
I'll take you back always, yeah
Even when your fight is over now
Even when your fight is over now
I'll take you back always, yeah
Even when the pain is coming through
Even when the pain is coming through
I'll take you back
I can only speak with a grateful heart
As I'm pierced by this gift of Your love
I will always bring an offering
I can never thank You enough
You take me back always, yeah
Even when my fight is over now
Even when my fight is over now
You take me back always, yeah
Even when my pain is coming through
Even when my pain is coming through
You take me back always
Even when my fight is over now
Even when my fight is over now
You take me back always
Even when my pain is coming through
Even when my pain is coming through
You take me back
