Symptoms of Salmonella

  • Nausea.
  • Vomiting.
  • Abdominal cramps.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Fever.
  • Chills.
  • Headache.
  • Blood in the stool.

Treatment

Most people recover without treatment. But diarrhea and dehydration may be so severe that it is necessary to go to the hospital.

How people get salmonella

  1. Salmonella are usually transmitted to humans by eating foods contaminated with animal feces. Contaminated foods usually look and smell normal. Contaminated foods are often of animal origin, such as beef, poultry, milk, or eggs, but any food, including vegetables, may become contaminated.
