Welcome March

Happy Spring

Sending you joyful blessings for a wonderful month of March. Find your inner light and step into your divine presence on this planet. Bring the positive energy of peace and love to all situations. Be the lightworker that you are. Be the earth angel that everyone needs. You came here to make a positive difference in the world. Now is the time to be who you really are!

March brings with it the promise of gardening and warmer, sunny days, as Earth turns its frostbitten cheek to winter and springs forth from the vernal equinox.

Big picture

St Patrick's day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, céilís, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks.

Family

You may have heard the weather proverb, “If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb,” which means that if the month starts off stormy, it will end with mild weather. There is, however, a different interpretation: The constellation Leo, the lion, rises in the east at the beginning of March and thus the month “comes in like a lion,” while Aries, the ram, sets in the west at the end of the month, and hence, the month “will go out like a lamb.”

The month of March reminds us to act on our thoughts and inspirations. A time of advancement and forward movement propelling us into the future. Decisions made in the month of March will have fortitude and distance. Make sure your decisions are for the highest good all around you. If accomplished, outcomes from decisions develop favorable energy.

The spiritual energy of March can sometimes play havoc with relationships of all kinds. If the friendships or relationships have strong foundations and truth is spoken communication will prevail, healing all problems on an emotional level, but if things are on the shaky ground March could mark the end of some relationships. This usually indicates growth and movement on a spiritual level giving way to better brighter relationships and circumstances.

Every year, we patiently look for the first signs of spring in the air—leaves budding, birds singing, and butterflies migrating. Even if it’s still winter and your ground is covered in snow, there are always subtle signs that spring is on the way. Here in the Piedmont Region the birds are starting to sing. We have not been able to keep our bird feeder full over the past week or two. In March, a chorus of birdsong filled the air as the migrating birds returned. The American Robin, Carolina Wren, and Doves filled our trees around our property. Hummingbirds and the loudest singer of all, the catbird, will return shortly after spring arrives. We will soon hear the knock of woodpeckers and ducks returning to our lakes.

What a roller coaster February had in store for us. The weather was a mixture of snow, ice, fog, rain, and cold temperatures. We had days where our son did not have school due the inclement weather. We enjoyed every minute of it as we are sitting by the fireplace and read a good book or binge watch a good show family. We had a family member get sick and have been travelling to and from the mountains on the weekends to ensure their wellness is taken care of.

Our son has been conditioning for track and field. Three days a week of after school practice paid off for him. We received notification toward the end of the month that he made the team. We are so proud of him and his accomplishments this year. The time seems to have passed so fast. It seems like yesterday that he was playing with his Thomas the Tank Engine trains.

Valentine’s Day was celebrated at home with a nice dinner and the reminder of our love for one another. I love days we set aside during the year to celebrate us. It reminds us that what once was still is.

Remember to be who you are, not who the world wants you to be.

Be well my friends, we will write again next month.

With Love,

Ed

Did You Know

Did you know that March 1 is Mardi Gras (aka “Fat Tuesday” or Shrove Tuesday), which is the final feasting day before the Christian tradition of Lent begins on the following day, Ash Wednesday (March 2, 2022)? Mardi Gras, as a celebration of life before the more-somber occasion of Ash Wednesday, nearly always involves the use of masks and costumes by its participants, and the most popular celebratory colors are purple, green, and gold. In New Orleans, for example, these often take the shape of fairies, animals, people from myths, or various Medieval costumes as well as clowns and Indians (Native Americans). However, many costumes today are simply elaborate creations of colored feathers and capes.

· March 8 is International Women’s Day, which is a day that not only celebrates the achievements of women and the progress made toward women’s rights, but also brings attention to ongoing struggles for equality around the world.

· March 13 is the start of Daylight Savings Time, which begins at 2:00 A.M. that day. If your area observes it, don’t forget to “spring forward” and set the clocks one hour ahead, or you may find yourself an hour late to everything!

· March 15 is the Ides of March! Legend surrounds this ill-fated day. Beware the Ides of March!

· March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day. According to folklore, folks wear a shamrock on St. Patrick’s Day because the saint used its three leaves to explain the Trinity.

· March’s full Moon, the Worm Moon, reaches peak illumination on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 3:20 A.M. EDT. Look for it in the evening of Thursday, March 17, as the Moon rises above the horizon!

· The March equinox occurs on Sunday, March 20, 2022. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is known as the vernal, or spring, equinox and marks the start of the spring season. In the Southern Hemisphere, autumn begins. At this time, the Sun crosses the celestial equator on its way north. Also on this day, the Sun rises exactly in the east and sets exactly in the west—a good thing to know if you get lost in the woods.

· March 29-31 are known as the Borrowing Days. According to lore, the last three days of March have a reputation for being stormy.

· March’s birth flower is the daffodil or jonquil. The daffodil signifies regard or unrequited love. The jonquil means “I desire a return of affection.”

· March’s birthstone is the aquamarine. This gem is a type of beryl; its color can be pale to dark blue, greenish-blue, or blue green; deep, intense blue versions are more valuable.

· March’s Zodiac signs are Pisces (February 20 to March 20) and Aries (March 21 to April 20).

Tarot of the Month

Ed,

For the month of March we start to feel renewed. You might have started feeling it creeping in last month. As we renew we also release. Mixed emotions are common during this time.

The three cards pulled are for the 31 days. The first card being the first ten days, the second card being the next ten days, and the last card being the remaining eleven days. (Faerie Tarot by Nathalie Hertz)

1st Card: Queen of Pentacles:

This weary young man, bent under snow and wind, painfully clutches his sword with both hands. This card is the symbol of loss and defeat, symbolized by his two cut wings that keep him from flying. He fights an existential battle. The dark threatening clouds above him announce despairing events. Divinatory Meanings: Time of failure, lost causes, remorse. Shame and humiliation, emotional loss, separation, and betrayal. Business problems. Return of a disease, mourning. Doubtful future, defeats. Dishonor, despair, pain, tears, and weaknesses. Mental confusion.

2nd Card: Seven of Swords:

This male fairy with his arms loaded with swords, represents hope after a long struggle. All depends on his will and determination. His road is still difficult; there are four more heavy swords to be carried. The white clouds banking over the horizon announce brighter prospects. Divinatory meaning: Perseverance, hope, new plans, tricks and uncertainty. Dedicated effort to obtain victory. A weak and emotional situation, discussions and slanders. Blame, quarrels, treasons and paranoia. Difficulties, but not insurmountable. Great efforts.

3rd Card: Five of Swords:

This weary young man, bent under snow and wind, painfully clutches his sword with both hands. This card is the symbol of loss and defeat, symbolized by his two cut wings that keep him from flying. He fights an existential battle. The dark threatening clouds above him announce despairing events. Divinatory Meanings: Time of failure, lost causes, remorse. Shame and humiliation, emotional loss, separation, and betrayal. Business problems. Return of a disease, mourning. Doubtful future, defeats. Dishonor, despair, pain, tears, and weaknesses. Mental confusion.

Questions and Counsel

Dear Katelyn,

Everything in my life is in a state of transition and I do not know what to do or “where” to go next. I feel stuck.

Hi friend,

Well, if you are transitioning then you are not stuck. still but not stuck. Readings run in themes. There has been a lot of people experiencing stillness, complacency, waiting, unfulfillment, hopelessness, and uncertainty. How can any of us be surprised? For the past couple of years, we waited for the “OK” to live our lives. With the understanding of Akashic, nowhere in your soul contract does it say you waited around for your life to happen. Life is not one major decision. Life is many small decisions that make up your whole experience. If you cannot see or are unsure where to go next then I suggest taking small steps, making small decisions. Allow those decisions to drive you to the next big stop. There is always a concern whether or not someone is on the right path. The “right” insinuates there is a wrong path and there is never a wrong path. Your path is your path. This experience is yours. Your reality is yours. What is your stillness telling you? What is your stuck saying? Use those answers to determine your small steps and make it happen for yourself!

All we are meant to do here is experience the experience.

Spiritual

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now Put the foundations under them.”

- Henry David Thoreau

Twice a year the Sun aligns to give us equal hours of night and day. Known as the Equinox, this alignment of light and dark energy first occurs in 2018 on March 20th.

The March Equinox is a sacred time as it represents balance and oneness. By having equal hours of day and night, we are reminded about the importance of finding balance and oneness in our own lives.

The March Equinox also brings about the start of a new season and with this comes a distinct shift in energy.

In the northern hemisphere, the energy shifts from winter to spring or from an internal state to an external state. In the southern hemisphere, the energy moves from summer to autumn, or from an external state to an internal state.

This energetic shift is best seen through examples in nature. In the northern hemisphere the buds begin to bloom, the daylight hours are longer, and many animals have the instinct to mate.

In the southern hemisphere, the hours of daylight decrease, animals go into hibernation, and the trees start to shed their leaves.

This energetic shift represents the start of a new cycle and is also the start of the astrological new year. This is because on the March Equinox, the Sun moves into the first constellation of Aries.

Aries energy is the perfect way to start a new cycle or a new chapter and will be supporting all of us to get to work on moving forward in the direction we want to go.

This is the perfect time to plant new seeds, start new projects, take action, and put yourself out there. It is also an exciting time to take ownership and responsibility of your life and begin releasing things that may be blocking you from getting where you want to be.

Mother Nature is always giving us clues as to where we should be focusing our energy, so tune in to her messages and see where you feel guided to go.

The Equinox reminds us that even though we may perceive light and dark as being separate, they only exist because of each other. In fact, it is both light and dark that make up the whole.

When we embrace this idea of wholeness or oneness, we can see things in a new way and really feel the connectedness of it all.

We need both light and dark to be whole, and this is a good reminder as we start this new chapter in our lives.

Whatever has come your way over the last astrological year, it is important to view it as a whole and to embrace both the light and dark moments as points of growth and something to learn from.

Moving forward, the astrological year ahead is going to be one that is focused on getting grounded and creating a stable and secure foundation.

Under the energy of the new astrological year, we are going to have to come to terms with the things that don’t make us feel grounded and secure, so we can address them and make necessary changes.

We are being urged to create this stable and supportive foundation so we can build up the beautiful, strong, and magical the castle of our dreams.

The new astrological year is really supporting all of us in the manifestation and creation of our lives, we first just need to give ourselves a secure and stable foundation to build upon.

Wellness

“Sometimes your joy is source of your smile, but sometimes, your smile can be the source or your joy.”

-Thich Nhat Hanh

When we speak of feeling low, we tend to describe sadness, loneliness, fear, anger, or confusion. Rarely do we use the word “comfort,” and yet comfort is precisely what makes misery difficult to release. Even though we do not like the situation we are in, letting misery control our lives is simply easier than facing the challenge of rising against it. And so, we find ourselves longing to curl up in bed or brood over our problems for hours on end. Yet with a simple smile you can break the comfort and take a major stop towards healing

Form your smile first with your mouth, then allow your face to soften, your temples to relax, and your eyes to participate. Hold your smile for a few minutes. If it starts to fade, reform, and keep holding. As you hold, examine first how your body reacts. The muscles begin to relax, the heart rate slows down, and the breath lengthens. Notice the change in your thoughts. Are they more positive? Hopeful? Objective?

Smiling when you are upset is about the last thing you will want to do. It will feel unnatural and awkward. Yet you do not need to produce a reason to smile. Try it when you are alone and give yourself as much time as you need to begin and end the process. The more you apply this strategy the easier it becomes to boost your spirits effortlessly and painlessly in the future. Not only does a smile encourage us to release negativity but has a positive influence on those around us as well. Smiling is infectious and elicits positive remarks and reactions from our peers. Forming a smile creates a spark of light that warms the heart and soothes the body, mind, and soul. This light guides us as well; it shows us that the path towards positive healing is paved with strength, hope, and humility. Smiling demonstrates that not only do you want to heal, but that you can! So, the next time you find yourself frowning, look at your image in the mirror and smile. Look at the positive effect it has on your thoughts and on your mood. Within minutes you will realize the abundance that lies in front of you and will start to embrace life. You will be thankful for everything that is out there.

And as the saying goes, a smile is addictive. Your smile will bring smiles to others around you. This leads to a chain reaction and every heart is filled with positive energy. And we all know that positive energy heals.

As you keep practicing this technique, you will soon start to learn how to look at the positive side of things instead of the negative side. So, while you are reading this article, bring a smile on your face. Feels great, doesn’t it?

“It only takes a split second to smile and forget, yet to someone that needed it, it can last a lifetime.”
