Family Newsletter
October 23rd, 2022
We had another great week at Robinson. I hope your family is enjoying the long weekend! Thank you for staying off of our playground this weekend as repairs are setting in.
Speaking of the playground- KSD and PTO are working on gathering a playground committee to help us make decisions regarding our playground enhancements and replacements this summer. We still need 2 K-2 families to participate in this group. If you are interested, please Sign-up and we will add you to our committee (first two responses will get it). Thanks for your consideration!
We have our Parent Teacher Conferences this week. If you have not yet signed up for a slot please reach out to your teacher. Please go by the cafeteria to claim any lost and found items from 1st quarter- all unclaimed lost and found items will be donated over the weekend next weekend. Thanks for stopping by to claim your lost items. Don't forget to go by the library during conferences to check out the Book Fair. Thank you to the PTO Staff Appreciation Committee for providing dinner for our staff on Tuesday night. We are so grateful to you all!
This week is also Red Ribbon Week. Please see the infograph below with what your child can wear to match our theme each day. Thank you Mrs. Harris for your hard work to get everything together for our kids!
Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.

You can merely come to enjoy the company and have some fun! This year the event will take place at Aberdeen Heights parking lot on Sunday, October 30th from 4-5pm. If you are decorating a trunk or setting up a table, set-up starts at 3:15PM and you should bring whatever you are handing out with you. Repeat of Information from the September Newsletter & Family Handbook
Prior to the pandemic, KSD sent attendance letters when students hit benchmark absences of every 5 days. This practice has returned this year. When your child hits benchmark absences, 5 days, 10 days, 15 days, 20 days (every 5 days) we will be sending out the attendance letter via email. This is an autogenerated communication to let parents know their child's cumulative absences (it will add tardy and early dismissal minutes together as well) no matter the absence reason.
We know that students are absent for a variety of reasons. If your child is going to be absent for any reason we ask that you notify our attendance secretary, Mrs. Campbell via email or phone call to our attendance line.
If your child will be tardy or absent from school, please notify the office as soon as possible by calling 314.213.6140 and selecting option 1. You can leave a message in our attendance voicemail box, or you may email to notify us of absence at robinsonattendance@kirkwoodschools.org. If your child is absent from school and we have not heard from you, we will call you to verify your child’s absence.
We record the absence cause in our student information system, Infinite Campus, and then review absences with our attendance committee.
If your child has been ill and you have been following health guidelines to prevent the spread of illness, we appreciate your adherence to the guidelines and communication with the school of your child’s absence due to illness.
Our attendance committee is working with our social worker, Dima Shanbaneh, to support families of students who hit attendance triggers. The district has 10 days absence as its benchmark for at risk attendance.
We thank you for your partnership in promoting good attendance with your child, and we are here to provide your family with any resources needed, please reach out for assistance.
