Technology Summer Take Home Program
Dear Allen ISD Families,
As part of the Empower 1:1 program and to provide students with equitable and enriching learning opportunities year-round, Allen ISD students who have paid the insurance fee can take home their school assigned device over the summer. Access to internet content through district devices will continue to be filtered through the summer months regardless of location or network connection being utilized. Additionally, the Responsible Use Policies and other student expectations are still applicable when students utilize district provided devices and student accounts.
Insurance Fee Details for the Summer Take Home Program:
- Families that paid the insurance fee during the 2021-2022 school year and are returning to Allen ISD for the 2022-2023 school year, will take home their device over the summer unless the opt-out option is selected below.
- Families who have not yet paid the insurance fee in grades 3-11 but wish to opt-in to take home their student device over the summer can pay the insurance fee through school pay for the Summer Take Home Program by May 13 of 2022.
- Insurance fees paid in April/May for the Summer Take Home Program will cover the insurance fee for school year 2022-2023.
If you paid the insurance fee and wish to opt-out of the summer device program, you must complete the Google Form to ensure the device remains on campus. Otherwise, your student will take home the device over the summer and bring it back for use on the first day of school in August.

PreKindergarten Update & Enrollment for 2022-2023
In the 2022-2023 school year, Allen ISD will serve eligible students in a half-day Prekindergarten program and a full-day Prekindergarten program. There are limited seats for the full-day program.
The full-day program will consist of two full-day monolingual Prekindergarten classes and one full-day bilingual Prekindergarten class. All three full-day classes will be located at Rountree Elementary. A Prekindergarten lottery process will be held for the full-day available class seats. In order to be considered for the Prekindergarten lottery for the 2022-2023 school year, families must complete the Prekindergarten registration process and submit all required documentation by Thursday, May 26, 2022. Families will receive email notification of selection or wait list during the week of June 20th. Families of selected students must confirm their acceptance and commitment for the 2022-2023 school year by the established deadline.

Lunch Visitors- REMINDER
Just a reminder- Lunch visitors must sign up on the Sign Up Genius (located on Chandler's Webpage) at least 24 hours in advance to be able to come eat with their child. This helps us to manage the amount of visitors coming each day. It also will let the teacher know that your child has a lunch visitor so that they send them to the correct place at lunchtime. Thank you for your help with this matter.
- Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their own children in a designated area.
We do have specific days in which we ask for no lunch visitors.
We also do not allow parents to join their students for lunch on state testing days.
When you arrive for lunch, you will need to sign in with the receptionist and then proceed to the MPR (multi-purpose room)
For security purposes and to avoid hurt feelings of other students, only your own children will be allowed to sit with you.
You are welcome to bring in an outside meal for your student and/or yourself only.
If purchasing a tray, please have your child order your meal at the beginning of the day in order to have enough food prepared.
We will have expectations that need to be followed, and at no time will lunch visitors be allowed to go in the cafeteria.
End of Year Reminder
All medications must be picked up by May 20th. Medications can NOT be kept over the summer. If medications are not picked up by May 20th, they will be discarded. Please keep in mind, May 20th is the last day of school and an early release day so we will dismiss at 12pm on that day. Please contact Nurse Joseph if you have any questions.
Parents of 6th Graders!
I want to be proactive in helping your 6th grader be prepared for 7th grade enrollment, as this process will begin sooner than we think! All incoming 7th grade students are required to have the following immunizations prior to starting 7th grade:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Acellular Pertussis (Tdap)
- Meningococcal (must be documented on the vaccine record as one of the following: MCV4, Menactra, Menveo, or MenACWY) Must be given on or after the 11th birthday.
Without these immunizations, your child will not be able to start school next year. We have had reports every year that those shots are scarce over the summer with so many children needing them, so the earlier, the better. If your student has had these immunizations, please turn in the documentation to the Chandler school nurse. I can enter those records into your child’s records. This will make the transition and registration process for 7th grade much easier.
There will be several general reminders sent out over the next few weeks. You can verify your child’s vaccines in Skyward. If you have already submitted these records, please disregard this notice.
Please let me know if you have any questions!

Kids Against Hunger Service Project - Friday, May 6th
Parents! We need your help! If you have a cleared background check through Allen ISD and you have some free time at the following times, we'd love to have you join us for this heart-warming meal packaging service project! We will be packing dried casserole meals for malnourished children & families in Honduras on Friday, May 6th in the Chandler Cafeteria. Our entire school will enjoy this hands-on experience serving others in the world after we have worked to raise $6,000 for supplies and shipping costs. Our last meal packaging event was in May 2019 when we packaged 30,960 meals - we hope to break our record with everyone working together! You can sign up at this link to volunteer either on Thursday, May 5th (3:30-5:00pm) for unloading the truck, setting up the assembly line, or on Friday, May 6th for assisting our students with the actual assembly line project, or clean up after school on Friday, May 6th from 3-4pm.
All library books are due on Monday May 2nd so that we can do inventory and pack up the library. There are turn in boxes in the upstairs hallway, in front of the library, and in K-2 classrooms. For information on replacing lost or damaged books please contact Mrs. Rios (email@example.com).
