Principal's Message - Nov. 18th (English)

Happy Wednesday!

Last week, I sent out information about the opening of the Fulcrum Tuition Assistance Program application for the 2016-17 school year. This is imperative information. In order to receive the Fulcrum assistance of $1100 per student, families must apply. Also, however, parents who expect to negotiate ANY financial assistance through our school (during tuition contract meetings) for next year MUST show that they have first applied through the Fulcrum application. If you need assistance with the application or technology, please contact Berenice at the office. She is happy to schedule time to walk you through the process...in English or in Spanish! For more detailed information, see the section below entitled "Fulcrum Tuition Assistance for 2016-17". Applications are due December 4th!!

Have a wonderful week!

Please make sure to attend the conference for your child on either Monday, Nov. 23rd and Tuesday, Nov. 24th. If you have any concerns about your time and you absolutely cannot adjust your schedule, please contact Berenice at the office (office@hrrsjda.org or 253.272.7012), so that we can try to accommodate a new time. Just a reminder, these are only 15 min conferences to update you on your child's progress. If you need additional time to meet with your child's teacher, you will need to schedule it for a different day.

Fulcrum Tuition Assistance for 2016 - 2017!!

The window of time has opened for next year's tuition assistance application. This is an opportunity to receive $1100 for each child in grades K - 8, based on a family's income level. You can apply at: http://www.fulcrumfoundation.org/apply-for-grant/assistance/. This application is available in both Spanish and English. As we prepare for tuition contract meetings this Spring, please note that families will not be eligible for any financial assistance through Holy Rosary school UNLESS they have first applied through the Fulcrum Foundation. This means that no contracts will be negotiated without applying first through Fulcrum. Berenice (at the Front Desk) is happy to help parents complete the online application. If you need to schedule a time to meet with her to go through the application, please email her at office@hrrsjda.org. Applications must be completed by Friday, Dec. 4th.

A Prayer Request

Please hold in your prayers the school family at Holy Family Bilingual School in White Center. Their principal, Mike Bacigalupi, passed away rather suddenly last week, after a very quick bout with cancer. Our students will be making cards to send to the school community. Also, Sue Mecham, Managing Director of the Fulcrum Foundation passed away unexpectedly this past weekend. Her presence will certainly be missed and we offer prayers for her family, as well. Her commitment to the community was inspiring.

Development News!!

Crab Feed/Auction Details:
We are excited to announce our date and location for this year’s Crab Feed and Auction. The Crab Feed and Auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 12th and will be held at Holy Cross Church, located in Tacoma. We are looking forward to hosting our community event at this new location.

Each family is responsible for supplying an auction item valued at $100. You can either pay the fee directly to the school or these items can be donated from a business. Some examples include: gift certificates to an experience, museum, family outing, or a professional service. Do you own a business or know someone who owns a business? This is an opportunity to ask for a donation. Businesses are often willing to donate as they can write the donation off on their taxes. Procurement/donation forms will be available in the office soon. The procurement deadline is: Friday, February 12th. If an auction item/ payment is not received by February 12th, the auction fee will increase to $150 per family, which will be billed to your school account.

This is a very important fundraiser for our school. Your participation and assistance will help us reach our $100,000 fundraising goal.
