A Newsletter from Hiteon's Parent Teacher Club (PTC)
Presidents' Message
Hello Families,
We were thrilled to meet new families and “see” familiar faces again at our first PTC General Meeting last month. We heard from our Principal and Assistant Principal, voted on our budget for the year, announced upcoming events like our Pumpkin Decorating Contest
and Book Fair (details below), and shared information on our open chair and board positions. It felt great to connect to Hiteon families and staff.
We hope each of your Hiteon students has received our welcome back gift in the mail - a treat and a Hiteon logo sticker. It also includes information about what the Hiteon PTC is all about. We would love for you all to join us at our next General meeting on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00 PM. Zoom meeting details below!
Please take a minute to look through the information below and reach out to any of us with questions or ideas for our unique year!
Happy Fall,
Kim Rivers & Kristin Glover, PTC Co-Presidents
BEAVERTON CLOTHES CLOSET NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
The clothes closet, serving families in the Beaverton school district, has been approved to serve more than one family at a time. With additional appointments, we’ll be able to serve more students in a timelier fashion, but we need help! Masks provided (and required).
Volunteer support is critical to the Clothes Closet’s ability to serve students! You can Sign up up for one (or more!) of the upcoming volunteer shifts.
Or, to view open shifts by month, login to your myimpactpage.com profile. Under the Opportunities tab, select Calendar view, then select the Beaverton School District and Clothes Closet.
If you’re new to the Clothes Closet, this short video should answer your questions on why your volunteer help is so important. https://youtu.be/Iwi5OWbm0lc

Recruiting a Few Good Leaders
The PTC Board needs you! We are recruiting a few new board members and a new committee chair for the 2020-2021 school year. You can use your already awesome skills to help the PTC serve Hiteon Elementary. See the open position descriptions below, and get in touch with any board member, or email president@hiteonptc.org for more information.
Diversity and Inclusion Chair (new chair position) We are starting the development of our first-ever Diversity and Inclusion Chair. The chair (or multiple co-chairs) would help shape the role and the initiatives we take on to help make the Hiteon community more inclusive for all of its diverse members. If you are a Hiteon Community member passionate about these issues, and especially if you identify as someone who is Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color (BIPOC), we would love to hear from you.
What do you want to see Hiteon PTC do this year and in years to come to support our diverse community? Some of our initial ideas include culturally diverse speakers, performers, and events, highlighting cross-cultural events in our newsletter, translating communications into different languages, and providing workshops and training for staff and families.
We welcome your ideas to help shape this role, and we would love to hear from you! To share your ideas or volunteer as chair, come to our PTC General Meeting, send us an email, or reach out on Facebook.
Co-Vice President 1, Fundraising (to serve alongside current VP1, Danielle Kolp)
This position oversees the committees for all fundraising activities at Hiteon, such as Fun Run, Popcorn Fridays, Dining 4 Dollars & Book Fair. Each of these committees has its own chairperson(s), and additional volunteers to help raise these funds. It is a great way to get involved! For more information please contact VP1fundraising@hiteonptc.org.
Volunteer Coordinator (to serve alongside current Volunteer Coordinator, Rebecca Kanarek)
The main duty of the volunteer coordinator is to make sure that all PTC activities have adequate volunteer staffing, and to assist at those events when needed. You will work with the Board and Committee chairs to send out volunteer solicitations as well as to keep the My Volunteer Page (MVP) system up and running with current information. For more information please contact Volcoord@hiteonptc.org.
