Veteran's Day
LEAD 2021 Strategic Objectives 3 & 4: All members of the GCISD family will promote good citizenship and demonstrate mutual respect. All students will be positive participants in their local communities and our global society.
On Friday, November 11, our Bransford Texans honored over 50 active and retired military personnel. The morning started with our wonderful Dad's Club getting the students excited with a patriotic high five Friday. Our fifth grade Kindness and Compassion Club greeted each distinguished guest as they enter Bransford. Our second graders, led by Mrs. Hockenbrough, performing patriotic songs and recognized each branch of the military service. Scout, the Patriot PAWS service dog Bransford sponsored, made a guest appearance on stage and to each classroom. After the moving program, our Texans lined the beautifully decorated hallways for the honor walk where the student who invited the veteran escorted their guest through the hall. Veterans joined students in classrooms for Circle Up time where wonderful conversations about honor, service, and freedom ensued. PTA hosted a small reception to honor our distinguished guests after they visited classrooms. This was a true collaborative effort as each and every Texan did their part to celebrate Veteran's Day! I couldn't be more proud of our students, staff, and families as we took time out to honor those who served our country, exemplifying the vision of LEAD 2021 strategies 3 and 4! Friday was another spectacular example of how we are building an excellent school together!
