Superintendent Bahr Newsletter
Welcome to the 19-20 School Year. I hope you have had a good Labor Day weekend with your family as well as a restful, productive summer. I am looking forward to working with you as the new school year begins today, Wednesday, September 4th. Over the summer, many staff members and administrators participated in various professional development opportunities.
Additionally, there has also been a lot of work done on facilities improvements as well as the normal, but intense cleaning and refreshing of classrooms and schools to ensure a safe and high-quality learning environment for your student. Please check out the new paint on the district office. Thank you to our volunteers from the Eatonville High School Wrestling Team for accomplishing this.
There will be a number of new things occurring this year, which will assist in the learning and performance of our students. Some examples of the changes are:
We are hosting the Department of Education Green Strides tour of all three STEM Lighthouse, Innovation Schools on October 30th. More to come!
A revisit of our strategic plan document for public feedback during our Focus on Education event hosted by the Eatonville School Board on October 23, @ 6-8pm at Eatonville High School.
Increasing computer in the hands of students and STEM opportunities for all levels of students: Several of our schools are close to 1:1.
Online language offerings at EMS and EHS.
After school activity busing for the secondary schools is discontinued for this school year so please check with your child’s school for further information.
Additional class offerings that align to 21st Century Skills such as Biomedical Science, AVID, STEM electives and other rigorous classes for all students Pre K-12.
Additionally, we have the highest preschool numbers in the history of Eatonville Schools with a District total of 85 students that includes morning and afternoon offerings at WES and EES and one offering at CCA STEM. This is up from 17-18SY with 24 developmental preschoolers and 18-19 with a blended population of 55.
I look forward to this year in providing a great education for our students and their future. I appreciate your partnership and contribution as parents to make all of our students highly successful. Wishing you the best and a great school year.
