News of Note
TA Luncheon: We will have a TA luncheon on Friday, 6/23 from 1:30-2:30 to close out the year and to say goodbye to TAs that are leaving us this year. Our wonderful TAs will be "off duty" during that time. Thanks for your support!
PTA Meeting scheduled for this Tuesday, June 20th has been cancelled.
EOG Tests: This week we wish our 3rd-5th graders success on taking the EOGs. Please refer to the school EOG schedules for lunch and specials. Remind all students to be mindful of the test by being quiet throughout the building.
Supervision: If you see a parent/other WITHOUT a visitor badge, please direct them to the office even if you know the person or they come frequently. If you see a parent/other in a place that doesn't make sense (like in a classroom of a teacher that is tracked out or in a place where they should be supervised) please ask the person why they or there or call the front office.
Heat Precautions: The heat is here!! See Heat Index. Please remind students to drink water, and if a child is experiencing problems as a result of overheating, take steps immediately. Heat exhaustion symptoms include: cool, moist skin, heavy sweating, headache, nausea, dizziness, light headedness, weakness, and excessive thirst. Steps to take to avoid heat exhaustion include: remove person from hot environment, give fluids, use fans/cool compresses to cool down body temperature, loosen tight clothing, rest. Not treating heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke. Heat stroke is like heat exhaustion except the person's body temperature is extremely high (104 degrees or higher,) the person is confused and can be unresponsive, and the person does not sweat. In this case, emergency medical attention is needed. IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT about the condition of a student for any reason, send the student to the office/notify the office immediately.
State Health Plan Confirmation:
If you are on the NC State Health Plan you should have received a letter from the NC State Health Plan to confirm if you have dependents on your plan by July 31, 2017 for them to continue on your plan. Please see Kaye if you did not receive your letter.
